, 2008 Beta 2 glycoprotein I (β2GPI) is a major antigenic target in antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). In vitro studies suggest that it may have multifaceted physiological functions, as it displays both anticoagulant and procoagulant properties. Beta 2GPI may bind to FXI and serve as a regulator of FXI activation by thrombin.

Iranian journal of immunology : IJI, 2012 Beta 2 glycoprotein I (β2GPI) is a single chain 50 kDa highly glycosylated glycoprotein at an approximate concentration of 4 μM in cells. The abundance of this protein in plasma and its high state of preservation indicate the important role of this protein in mammalians.
