Qualitative and quantitative estimation of beta-glucan (β-1,3-glucan) extracted from keratitis causing Fusarium spp.

open access: yesThe Microbe
Keratitis is a corneal inflammation caused by invasion of the epithelium, stroma, and endothelium. Fusarium is the predominant fungal pathogen associated with keratitis, with β-1,3-glucan may contribute to species-complex specific inflammatory responses ...

beta-1,3-glucan modifying enzymes in Aspergillus fumigatus

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2013
In Aspergillus fumigatus like in other filamentous ascomycetes, beta-1,3-glucan constitutes a prominent cell wall component being responsible for rigidity of the cell wall structure. In filamentous fungi, softening of the cell wall is absolutely required

Ginseng polysaccharides prevent mastitis through Lactobacillus murinus‐derived deoxycholic acid and TGR5 signaling

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
Prebiotic Ginseng polysaccharides (GP) alleviate mastitis through selective enrichment of gut L. murinus, which elevates its anti‐inflammatory metabolite deoxycholic acid (DCA). Circulating DCA engages mammary epithelial TGR5 receptors, triggering the cAMP–PKA pathway to suppress NF‐κB/NLRP3‐mediated inflammation.

Stimuli‐responsive hydrogels: An intelligent tool for wound management

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
For chronic and complex wounds, this review focuses on intelligent hydrogels capable of responding to wound microenvironmental cues (e.g., pH, enzymes) or external stimuli (e.g., light, electricity). These advanced materials enable the dynamic regulation of drug release and real‐time monitoring of healing progression, thereby offering innovative ...

The Influence of Genotype and Environment on Arabinoxylan and Beta-glucan Contents in Grain of Spring Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.)

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2014
Arabinoxylan and beta-glucan contents are limiting factors for a wider use of barley production. Arabinoxylan and beta-glucan contents were assessed in grain samples in sets of seven malting hulled varieties, three hull-less lines and one hull-less ...
