A macrophage receptor for liver lysosomal .BETA.-glucosidase.

open access: yesCell Structure and Function, 1988
beta-Glucosidase was purified from lysosomal membranes isolated from rat liver. Binding and uptake of the purified beta-glucosidase were mediated via an apparently single binding site on rat peritoneal macrophages. The number of sites and the Kd were 4.20 X 10(4)/cell and 1.00 X 10(-7) M, respectively.

Preclinical Evaluation of Berry Extracts as a Nutritional Intervention to Alleviate Myocardial Ischemia–Reperfusion Injury and Atherosclerosis Development

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the experimental design and the proposed mechanisms underlying the cardioprotective and anti‐atherosclerotic effects of Greek‐derived berry extracts. C57BL/6 mice with WD–induced MS and ApoE−/− mice with atherosclerosis received chronic supplementation with WMex or BBex.

A β-glucosidase-producing M-2 strain: Isolation from cow dung and fermentation parameter optimization for flaxseed cake

open access: yesAnimal Nutrition, 2019
Flaxseed cake contains cyanogenic glucosides, which can be metabolized into hydrocyanic acid in an animal's body, leading to asphyxia poisoning in cells. Beta-glucosidase is highly efficient in degrading cyanogenic glucosides.

Screening of beta-glucosidase genes from marine bacteria

open access: yes, 2010
Beta-glucosidase is a glucosidase enzyme that acts upon β1→4 bonds linking two glucose or glucose-substituted molecules. The enzyme occurs ubiquitously in plants, animals, fungi and bacteria which convert cellubiose to glucose.

Objective sleep parameters and diurnal blood pressure in concurrent hypertension and type 2 diabetes

open access: yesSleep Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Hypertension is a primary cardiovascular complication in type 2 diabetes associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) is essential for capturing circadian BP variation, which is closely influenced by sleep. Methods Twenty patients (63.75 ± 4.44 years old, 40% female, duration of T2D:

Diving Deeper Into Mechanisms of Acrylamide‐Induced Toxicity: RNA Sequencing Reveals Transcriptomic Alteration and Retrotransposon Expression in Drosophila melanogaster

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Given the inevitability of human and animal exposure to acrylamide, there is increasing concern regarding its potential health risks. While a number of molecular mechanisms have been proposed, the complexity of acrylamide toxicological pathways and interactions remains incompletely characterized.
