Effects of phosphatidylcholine and betaine supplements on women's serum choline

open access: yesJournal of Nutrition & Intermediary Metabolism, 2019
Background: Maternal phosphatidylcholine supplements have shown benefit in the development of the human fetal brain, as assessed both by newborn physiological measurements and by a related decrease in later childhood behavioral abnormalities.

PiP‐Plex: A Particle‐in‐Particle System for Multiplexed Quantification of Proteins Secreted by Single Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Detecting proteins secreted by a single cell while retaining its viability remains challenging. A particles‐in‐particle (PiPs) system made by co‐encapsulating barcoded microparticles (BMPs) with a single cell inside an alginate hydrogel particle is introduced.

A placebo-controlled trial of folic acid and betaine in identical twins with Angelman syndrome. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BackgroundAngelman syndrome (AS) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that is caused by maternal genetic deficiency of a gene that encodes E6-AP ubiquitin-protein ligase (gene symbol UBE3A) mapping to chromosome 15q11-q13.

Eutectozymes as Soft Hybrid Materials for Advanced Biocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Eutectozymes are sustainable hybrid materials that embed a GOx–HRP cascade within hydrophobic eutectogels featuring a dual supramolecular–covalent network. This architecture preserves native enzyme structure and stability, enables efficient heterogeneous biocatalysis in aqueous media, and positions eutectogels as robust platforms for next‐generation ...

Effect of shear stress on Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolated from the cystic fibrosis lung [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Chronic colonization of the lungs by Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in cystic fibrosis (CF) patients. To gain insights into the characteristic biofilm phenotype of P. aeruginosa in the CF lungs, mimicking the

Effects of Betaine on LPS-Stimulated Activation of Microglial M1/M2 Phenotypes by Suppressing TLR4/NF-κB Pathways in N9 Cells

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Microglia mediate multiple facets of neuroinflammation. They can be phenotypically divided into a classical phenotype (pro-inflammatory, M1) or an alternative phenotype (anti-inflammatory, M2) with different physiological characteristics and biological ...

Polarize the Solvent to Regulate the Intermediate Phase and Dynamic Crystallization of Perovskite Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A solvent engineering strategy using polar polymers is introduced to regulate perovskite crystallization dynamics in solar cells. Strongly polarized fluorinated groups stabilize the intermediate phase and control solvent exfoliation, leading to high‐quality films with suppressed defects.
