Gene regulatory network subcircuit controlling a dynamic spatial pattern of signaling in the sea urchin embryo [PDF]
We dissect the transcriptional regulatory relationships coordinating the dynamic expression patterns of two signaling genes, wnt8 and delta, which are central to specification of the sea urchin embryo endomesoderm.

Control of Precerebellar Neuron Development byOlig3bHLH Transcription Factor [PDF]
The rhombic lip (RL) is the neuroepithelium immediately adjacent to the roof plate of the fourth ventricle, and it gives rise to various brainstem and cerebellar cell types. Our study shows that the bHLH (basic helix-loop-helix) transcription factorOlig3is expressed in the progenitors of RL, and ablation ofOlig3significantly affects the development of ...

Hes6 acts in a positive feedback loop with the neurogenins to promote neuronal differentiation [PDF]
During the development of the vertebrate nervous system, neurogenesis is promoted by proneural bHLH proteins such as the neurogenins, which act as potent transcriptional activators of neuronal differentiation genes.

Identification of dividing, determined sensory neuron precursors in the mammalian neural crest [PDF]
Sensory and autonomic neurons of the vertebrate peripheral nervous system are derived from the neural crest. Here we use the expression of lineage-specific transcription factors as a means to identify neuronal subtypes that develop in rat neural crest ...

ZINC-FINGER interactions mediate transcriptional regulation of hypocotyl growth in Arabidopsis [PDF]
Integration of environmental signals and interactions among photoreceptors and transcriptional regulators is key in shaping plant development. TANDEM ZINC-FINGER PLUS3 (TZP) is an integrator of light and photoperiodic signaling that promotes flowering in

Daytime temperature is sensed by phytochrome B in Arabidopsis through a transcriptional activator HEMERA. [PDF]
Ambient temperature sensing by phytochrome B (PHYB) in Arabidopsis is thought to operate mainly at night. Here we show that PHYB plays an equally critical role in temperature sensing during the daytime.

Mechanism underlying synergic activation of Tyrosinase promoter by MITF and IRF4 [PDF]
Background: The transcription factor interferon regulatory factor 4 (IRF4) was identified to be involved in human pigmentation by genome-wide association studies (GWASs).

The molecular basis of T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia [PDF]
T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemias (T-ALLs) arise from the malignant transformation of hematopoietic progenitors primed toward T cell development, as result of a multistep oncogenic process involving constitutive activation of NOTCH signaling and ...

Murine Chromosomal Location of Five bHLH-Zip Transcription Factor Genes
The genes for the bHLH-Zip transcription factors Tfap4, Mxi1, Tcfeb, Usf1, and Usf2 have been mapped in mouse by interspecific backcross analysis. Mxi1, Usf1, and Usf2 have been mapped previously by in situ hybridization, but their positions on the meiotic linkage map had not been determined. The other two genes have not previously been mapped in mouse.

Upregulation of Id1 by Epstein-Barr Virus-encoded LMP1 confers resistance to TGFβ-mediated growth inhibition [PDF]
Background Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-encoded LMP1 protein is commonly expressed in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). LMP1 is a prime candidate for driving tumourigenesis given its ability to activate multiple signalling pathways and to alter the expression
