Preventive Effects of Crataegus monogyna Fruit Extract on Oxidative Damage and Inflammatory Response in a Rat Model of Acetic Acid‐Induced Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
Crataegus monogyna fruit extract attenuated oxidative stress and inflammatory responses in acetic acid‐induced ulcerative colitis in rats. Treatment improved antioxidant status, reduced lipid peroxidation, and alleviated histopathological damage, demonstrating its protective effect against ulcerative colitis.

Recovery of Phenolic Compounds From Elsholtzia ciliata Leaves by Ultrasound‐Assisted Extraction and Their Antioxidant Application in Food

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
Ultrasound‐assisted extraction, optimized by response surface methodology, efficiently recovered antioxidant phenolics from Elsholtzia ciliata leaves at 77°C for 67 min with 3.6 min of sonication, using 60% ethanol, pH 5.5, and a 1:18 material‐to‐solvent ratio. The optimized extract contained 28.45 ± 0.50 mg GAE/g DW total phenolic content and 6.07 ± 0.

Synthesis, Characterization, Antioxidant Evaluation, Cytotoxicity Studies, and Molecular Docking of Novel Sulfonamide Derivatives

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 7, July 2026.
A series of novel sulfonamide derivatives (4a–i) were synthesized and characterized. Compound 4d showed significant antioxidant activity, while compounds 4g, 4h, and 4i exhibited high cytotoxicity against ovarian and prostate cancer cells, particularly 4h with a log IC50 of 1.343 µg/mL.

Recycling of hazelnut waste: Antidiabetic properties of soy lecithin nanoparticles and their in vitro anti‐proliferative effects in tumor cell lines

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 9, Page 5596-5613, July 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Hazelnuts and foods produced using hazelnuts are consumed with pleasure, but it is important to evaluate the waste generated during hazelnut processing and determine their usage methods. RESULTS This study was conducted to determine the changes in bioactive components, bioaccessibility and antidiabetic activity of nanoparticles ...

Synthesis, Solubilization, and Photophysical Properties of Polyfluorinated Pentacene Dimers

open access: yesJournal of Physical Organic Chemistry, Volume 39, Issue 7, July 2026.
The synthesis and photophysical analysis of polyfunctionalized pentacene dimers is described. Polyfluorination is employed to modulate the polarizability and to investigate the effects on the mechanism of singlet fission (SF). ABSTRACT A polyfluorinated pentacene dimer, linked with a 1,3‐diethynylphenylene spacer, was synthesized to investigate the ...
