Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT) Inhibits PIN1 Exocytosis From BFA Compartments in Arabidopsis Roots

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2020
The activity of polarly localized PIN-FORMED (PIN) auxin efflux carriers contributes to the formation of auxin gradients which guide plant growth, development, and tropic responses.

Extra gauge symmetries in BHT gravity

open access: yes, 2011
We study the canonical structure of the Bergshoeff-Hohm-Townsend massive gravity, linearized around a maximally symmetric background. At the critical point in the space of parameters, defined by $\Lambda_0/m^2=-1$, we discover an extra gauge symmetry ...

Tracing the disc: The novel qualitative morphometric MRI based disc degeneration classification system

open access: yesJOR Spine
Background This study aimed to develop a classification system for lumbar disc degeneration using routine magnetic resonance images (MRIs) that is easily applicable and unaffected by existing classifications' limitations, and to compare its reliability ...

Duality of parity doublets of helicity $\pm 2$ in $D=2+1$

open access: yes, 2010
In $D=2+1$ dimensions there are two dual descriptions of parity singlets of helicity $\pm 1$, namely the self-dual model of first-order (in derivatives) and the Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory of second-order.

MOFs and COFs in Electronics: Bridging the Gap between Intrinsic Properties and Measured Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) hold promise for advanced electronics. However, discrepancies in reported electrical conductivities highlight the importance of measurement methodologies. This review explores intrinsic charge transport mechanisms and extrinsic factors influencing performance, and critically ...

Digital Actuation Control of Soft Robotic Origami With Self‐Folding Liquid Crystal Elastomer Hinges

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐folding soft‐rigid hybrid robotic origami is enabled by liquid crystal elastomer actuators with embedded Joule heating and closed‐loop digital control. Digitally addressable hinges provide reversible and programmable transitions between distinct folded states while maintaining actuation performance at high cycle counts (over 1500).

Robust Polymer Hydrogels Improve Electric‐Fish‐Inspired Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electric‐fish‐inspired hydrogel batteries based on ion‐concentration gradients offer an attractive route to soft power sources; however, the poor mechanical properties of existing hydrogels limit device assembly and performance. Here, we report poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether acrylate hydrogels that enable ion‐gradient batteries composed of
