Binaural technology for e.g. rendering auditory virtual environments

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2008
Jens Blauert's research up through the late 60ties and later, pioneered the field of binaural technology and auditory virtual environments. He mastered the measurement of head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) before the term was introduced, and his methods were standard for decades.

A Binaural Signal Synthesis Approach for Fast Rendering of Moving Sound

2017
Considering the difficulty of modeling the individual head related transfer function (HRTF), a binaural moving sound source-oriented stereo audio synthesis approach is proposed, which refers to the interpolation method of HRTF. By means of spherical recording, the spatial audio of points from different directions can be obtained.

A Single-Input/Binaural-Output Perceptual Rendering Based Speech Separation Method in Noisy Environments

Asia-Pacific Signal and Information Processing Association Annual Summit and Conference
In this paper, we address the challenge of single-channel speech separation in noisy environments, where two active speakers and background noise are present in the observed signal.

Binaural rendering assessment in the context of augmented reality

2004
The paper presents recent work undertaken on binaural rendering in the context of the European project LISTEN, dedicated to augmented reality (AR) and museum applications. Thanks to wireless technology applied to audio transmission and tracking systems, binaural synthesis, up to now confined to laboratory contexts, may be applied to create large scale ...

Perceptual evaluation of binaural rendering of microphone array signals

Binaural audio is a key technology for creating immersive spatial sound fields in virtual and augmented reality (AR/VR). One of the key techniques in binaural audio is based on signals acquired with microphone arrays. Microphone arrays are flexible tools for capturing the entire spatial sound field and subsequently reproducing it binaurally to the ...
