Biochemical Engineering Perspective on cGAS: From Enzyme Discovery to Potential Industrial Application

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 5, 13 March 2026.
This review examines the structural and enzymatic properties of cyclic GMP‐AMP synthase, including substrate promiscuity, homologs, and engineered variants. In addition, it evaluates potential expression systems for large‐scale enzyme production and analyzes reaction and purification strategies for the synthesis of cyclic dinucleotides to connect ...

Polyurethane Cascade Depolymerization by a Combination of Thermal Pretreatment and Enzymatic Hydrolysis

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 5, 13 March 2026.
This study explored the cascade depolymerization of a polyether‐polyester polyurethane based on a combination of low‐temperature thermal treatment and enzymatic hydrolysis. Heat pretreatment changed the physicochemical properties of polyurethane, followed by cutinase‐catalyzed hydrolysis, leading to an increase in weight loss and the production of two ...

Biocatalytic Epoxidation Pathway of Oils in Sponge‐Like Ionic Liquids Toward CO2‐Derived Cyclic Carbonate Synthesis

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 5, 13 March 2026.
A sustainable chemo‐enzymatic synthesis of poly(cyclic carbonate)s from CO2 and renewable oils is reported for the first time using sponge‐like ionic liquids as reaction media by two sequential steps: epoxidation and CO2 cycloaddition. A sustainable chemo‐enzymatic synthesis of poly(cyclic carbonate)s from CO2 and renewable oils is reported for the ...

Biocatalytic Regioselective C‐Formylation of Resorcinol Derivatives

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 10, 2 March 2026.
An acyltransferase from Chromobacterium sphagni (CsATase) was identified that catalyzes the regioselective formylation of resorcinol substrates. The formylation of substituted resorcinol derivatives yielded mono‐formylated products with up to 99% conversion and up to 74% isolated yield.
