ABSTRACT Aristolochia species have long been used in traditional medicine for their presumed anti‐inflammatory, analgesic and antimicrobial properties. However, extensive toxicological and epidemiological evidence now demonstrates that these plants contain aristolochic acids (AAs) I and II, highly potent nephrotoxic, genotoxic, and carcinogenic ...

Advanced Chemical Design for Efficient Lignin Bioconversion
Lignin depolymerization mainly involves redox reactions relying on the effective electron transfer. Even though electron mediators were previously used for delignification of paper pulp, no study has established a bioprocess to fragment and solubilize ...

ABSTRACT This study explored the association between the composite dietary antioxidant index (CDAI) and cardiovascular‐kidney‐metabolic (CKM) progression in an older population. Using data from NHANES 2001–2020, we analyzed 4974 adults aged ≥ 60 years with CKM syndrome. The CDAI was calculated from the intake of six dietary antioxidants.

Environmental critique of solar power by bioconversion methods [PDF]
Idealistic approaches to the resolution of the energy crisis by increased usage of bioconversion methods are discussed. It is pointed out that shortcomings of the technology make such a goal unrealistic.

Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) was extracted from watermelon rind using acid hydrolysis. MCC can be efficiently used as reinforcement in biofilms and biocomposites. Abstract The increasing accumulation of agricultural waste from watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) represents a substantial environmental concern, particularly in view of the extensive ...

The continuing significance of chiral agrochemicals
In the time frame 2018–2023, around 43% of the 35 chiral agrochemicals introduced to the market (herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, acaricides, and nematicides) contain one or more stereogenic centers in the molecule, and almost 69% of them have been marketed as racemic mixtures of enantiomers or stereoisomers.
