Targeted therapies for the treatment of non-small-cell lung cancer: Monoclonal antibodies and biological inhibitors

open access: yesHuman Vaccines & Immunotherapeutics, 2017
The usual treatments for patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), such as advanced lung adenocarcinoma, are unspecific and aggressive, and include lung resection, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Radiological outcomes in perianal fistulizing Crohn's disease: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesJGH Open, 2020
Perianal fistulas are a common and debilitating manifestation of Crohn's disease. Since the advent of biological agents, patient outcomes appear to have improved.

Renormalization of radiobiological response functions by energy loss fluctuations and complexities in chromosome aberration induction: deactivation theory for proton therapy from cells to tumor control

open access: yes, 2019
We employ a multi-scale mechanistic approach to investigate radiation induced cell toxicities and deactivation mechanisms as a function of linear energy transfer in hadron therapy.

Early research on the biological effects of microwave radiation: 1940?1960 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
Two overriding considerations shaped the development of early research on the biological effects of microwave radiation?possible medical application (diathermy) and uncertainty about the hazards of exposure to radar.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

LONG-TERM RETENTION RATE OF CERTOLIZUMAB PEGOL IN PATIENTS WITH AXIAL SPONDYLOARTHRITIS: DATA FROM THE TURKBIO REGISTRY

open access: yesRheumatology Quarterly
Aim: Selecting the most effective treatment plan for a patient represents one of the most challenging issues in contemporary rheumatology. Clinicians must consider the long-term retention rate and the reasons for discontinuing candidate drugs. This study ...
