Decoding the genomic landscape of chromatin-associated biomolecular condensates

open access: yesNature Communications
Biomolecular condensates play a significant role in chromatin activities, primarily by concentrating and compartmentalizing proteins and/or nucleic acids.

The Future of Foundation Machine Learning Potentials and DFT in Homogeneous Catalysis: Competition or Synergy?

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Machine‐learning potentials are increasingly taking on the exploratory tasks of homogeneous catalysis, enabling rapid conformer sampling and reaction‐space mapping. However, when selectivity depends on subtle electronic effects, electronic‐structure methods remain essential.

Dynamic Control of Nucleic Acids Self‐Assembly and Expression Using Photoswitches

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
We review here the recent progress made in the design of molecular photoswitches, and highlight their implementation for the dynamic control over nucleic acids self‐assembly and expression. ABSTRACT Synthetic nucleic acids have become readily available and now constitute versatile building blocks in materials science—where they can be used to engineer ...

Design of Fuel‐Dependent, Complex‐Coacervate‐Based Synthetic Cells

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Fuel‐dependent synthetic cells form and persist only in the presence of chemical fuel, decaying under starvation. We establish design rules for hexapeptide‐based coacervates, showing that tryptophan enhances polyanion binding, extends lifetime, and reduces waste sensitivity.

Linear and Two‐Dimensional Infrared Spectroscopy of the Multifunctional Vibrational Probe, 3‐(4‐Azidophenyl) Propiolonitrile. Deperturbing a Fermi Triad by Isotopic Substitution

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 26, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
Linear infrared spectroscopy combined with isotope labeling and density functional theory unravels the origin of a Fermi triad in a multifunctional vibrational chromophore. Ultrafast 2DIR‐spectroscopy reports directly on the dynamics and the intramolecular vibrational energy flow pathways in the isotopically deperturbed system. Abstract Infrared probes

Probing the surface charge of condensates using microelectrophoresis

open access: yesNature Communications
Biomolecular condensates play an important role in cellular organization. Coacervates are commonly used models that mimic the physicochemical properties of biomolecular condensates.
