A Microbial Lipid‐ATP Synthase Axis Fuels NK Cell Antitumor Activity
This study focuses on the mechanism by which gut microbiota‐derived outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) regulate NK cell antitumor activity. B. intestinalis is identified to decrease extra‐intestinal tumor growth via its OMVs enriched in sphingosine (SP).

Genomics and the ancient origins of the daptomycin biosynthetic gene cluster [PDF]
Daptomycin is a clinically useful lipopeptide antibiotic produced by Streptomyces roseosporus. The antibiotic is assembled by a nonribosomal peptide synthetase (NRPS) mechanism, and the cyclized tridecapeptide contains three non-proteinogenic-amino acids: ornithine (Orn), 3-methyl-glutamic acid (3mGlu) and kynurinine (Kyn).

Lactate in cervical cancer induces HNRNPU K181 lactylation, opposed by NAA50‐mediated acetylation and suppressed by Pazopanib. This lactylation enhances HNRNPU binding to PHGDH pre‐mRNA exon 1, maintaining exon 1‐containing transcripts and mRNA stability, thereby activating serine metabolism.

Deregulation of secondary metabolism in a histone deacetylase mutant of Penicillium chrysogenum
The Pc21 g14570 gene of Penicillium chrysogenum encodes an ortholog of a class 2 histone deacetylase termed HdaA which may play a role in epigenetic regulation of secondary metabolism. Deletion of the hdaA gene induces a significant pleiotropic effect on

In this study, chemoproteomics combined with genetic and functional analyses was integrated to identify SHMT2 as a covalent and functional target of gambogic acid (GA) in triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC). Further validation demonstrated that GA selectively modifies the Cys241 site of SHMT2, triggering mitochondrial dysfunction, activating the Nrf2 ...

Translating biosynthetic gene clusters into fungal armor and weaponry [PDF]
Filamentous fungi are renowned for the production of a diverse array of secondary metabolites (SMs) where the genetic material required for synthesis of a SM is typically arrayed in a biosynthetic gene cluster (BGC). These natural products are valued for their bioactive properties stemming from their functions in fungal biology, key among those ...
