Synthesis of Marine Sponge Bisindole Alkaloids Dihydrohamacanthins
Organic Letters, 2002[structure: see text] A convergent synthesis of the marine sponge bisindole alkaloids dihydrohamacanthins is described. The synthesis centers on the construction of 3,5- and 3,6-linked pyrazinones and their reduction to the requisite piperazinones with sodium cyanoborohydride.

Synthesis of a novel series of cytotoxic bisindole alkaloids
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2001Original cytotoxic bisindole alkaloids with a 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline bridge were synthesized by reductive amination with various anilines. The most cytotoxic compounds display a high and dose-dependent cell cycle effect with accumulation in the G1 phase.

Alternative partial synthesis of bisindole alkaloids
Tetrahedron Letters, 1990Abstract Indoline derivatives of the pericyclivine series are oxidized at position 6 with DDQ; the corresponding alcohols are coupled with nucleophilic indolines under acid conditions to yield dimers similar to undulatine.

Leucophyllinines A and B, bisindole alkaloids from Leuconotis eugeniifolia
Journal of Natural Medicines, 2019Two new bisindole alkaloids, leucophyllinines A (1) and B (2) consisting of eburnane and quebrachamine-type skeletons were isolated from the bark of Leuconotis eugeniifolia, and their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data. Leucophyllinines A and B showed antiplasmodial activities against Plasmodium falciparum 3D7.

Bisindole alkaloid artifacts from Gonioma malagasy
Tetrahedron Letters, 2013Abstract Three new bisindole alkaloids ( 1 – 3 ), possessing a rare carbon skeleton formed by two indole moieties fused via a dihydropyran unit, were isolated from the alkaloid extract of the stem bark of Gonioma malagasy . Their structure and absolute configuration were assigned thanks to a combination of one and two dimensional NMR spectroscopy ...
