Recent Recommendations on Bisphosphonate-Associated Osteonecrosis of the Jaw
Dental Update, 2008There is increasing awareness of the importance of osteonecrosis of the jaw developing in patients taking bisphosphonates. A recent working party of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research has developed recommendations on the prevention and treatment of this condition which dentists will find useful.

Oral bisphosphonate associated osteonecrosis of the jaws: three case reports
British Dental Journal, 2007Bisphosphonate associated osteonecrosis of the jaws (BONJ) has been well documented recently in relation to intravenous preparations of the drug. These are most commonly used as part of the management of hypercalcaemia of malignancy and metastatic bone disease but BONJ can also occur in association with oral bisphosphonate use.

Bisphosphonate-associated osteonecrosis (BON) of the jaws: A possible treatment?
Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 2006Management of bisphosphonate-associated osteonecrosis (BON) of the jaws is currently a very topical subject. At present, there is no effective treatment for this condition. Several authors have recommended that prevention, when possible, of BON in patients at risk is the gold standard.

[Bisphosphonate-associated osteonecrosis of the jaw].
Schmerz (Berlin, Germany), 2016Bisphosphonates (BP) are used in the treatment of severe osteoporosis and metastasis of malignant diseases. A possible relationship between the occurrence of osteonecrosis of the jaw and BP therapy was first described in 2003. Bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) is difficult to treat.

Clinical and diagnostic imaging of bisphosphonate-associated osteonecrosis of the jaws
Dentomaxillofacial Radiology, 2006It is important to recognize osteonecrosis of the jaws in patients treated with bisphosphonates because an early diagnosis can make a significant difference to the outcome of the disease. The aim of this study is to describe the radiological features of bisphosphonate osteonecrosis (BON) in order to aid its prompt recognition.A conventional radiograph,

Identification and Treatment of Bisphosphonate-Associated Actinomycotic Osteonecrosis of the Jaws
Implant Dentistry, 2011Osteonecrosis of the jaws (ONJ) is a condition characterized by necrotic exposed bone in the jaws of patients receiving intravenous or oral bisphosphonate therapy. A review of the medical and dental literature reveals that the pathoetiology of ONJ remains unknown and there is no established link that bisphosphonates are the primary cause of this bone ...
