BK Polyomavirus (BKPyV) is a ubiquitous nonenveloped human virus that can cause severe disease in immunocompromised populations. After internalization into renal proximal tubule epithelial cells, BKPyV traffics through the ER and enters the cytosol. However, it is unclear how the virus enters the nucleus.

Role of cellular ion channels in the BK polyomavirus life cycle [PDF]
BK polyomavirus (BKPyV) is a human pathogen that infects the majority of the population, worldwide, establishing a lifelong infection. Immunocompromised patients following renal transplantation, are likely to suffer from severe clinical complications ...

Donor HLA-DQ genetic and functional divergence affect the control of BK polyoma virus infection after kidney transplantation. [PDF]
BK polyomavirus (BKPyV) infection remains a major concern after kidney transplantation, increasing the risk of graft loss in the absence of specific antiviral agent now available.

Epidemiology and Dynamics of BK Polyomavirus Replication after Kidney Transplantation
Background/Objectives: In the absence of an effective antiviral treatment for BK polyomavirus (BKPyV), a better understanding of the epidemiology and time course of BKPyV replication after kidney transplantation is needed to limit the virus’s impact on ...

BK Polyomavirus Serotype-Specific Antibody Responses in Blood Donors and Kidney Transplant Recipients with and without New-Onset BK Polyomavirus-DNAemia : A Swiss Transplant Cohort Study [PDF]
BK polyomavirus (BKPyV) causes premature renal failure in 10% to 30% of kidney transplant recipients (KTRs). Current guidelines recommend screening for new-onset BKPyV-DNAemia/nephropathy and reducing immunosuppression to regain BKPyV-specific immune ...
