Alternation, Sparsity and Sensitivity : Bounds and Exponential Gaps

open access: yes, 2019
$\newcommand{\sp}{\mathsf{sparsity}}\newcommand{\s}{\mathsf{s}}\newcommand{\al}{\mathsf{alt}}$ The well-known Sensitivity Conjecture states that for any Boolean function $f$, block sensitivity of $f$ is at most polynomial in sensitivity of $f$ (denoted ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Role of cell block in cytopathologic evaluation of image-guided fine needle aspiration cytology

open access: yesJournal of Cytology, 2017
Context: Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of superficial or deep-seated lesion is an increasingly common practice, eliminating time consuming and costly diagnostic procedures and providing rapid and safe diagnosis.

Validity of Shunt Pumping Test as a Screening Modality for Shunt Block: An Experimental Study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Neurosurgery, 2020
Purpose To ascertain the validity and efficacy of shunt compression test in evaluating a blocked shunt. Methods An experimental model was created using a Chhabra shunt, and 25 physicians with 1 to 3 years of experience in neurosurgery were asked to ...

Eternal Sunshine of the Solar Panel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The social dynamics of residential solar panel use within a theoretical population are studied using a compartmental model. In this study we consider three solar power options commonly available to consumers: the community block, leasing, and buying.

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Perfusion index and perfusion index ratio as predictive tools for block success: A prospective observational study on ultrasound-guided supraclavicular brachial plexus block

open access: yesSaudi Journal of Anaesthesia
Background: The supraclavicular brachial plexus block is widely used for upper limb surgeries due to its effectiveness in providing anesthesia. Conventionally, success is gauged through sensory and motor assessments, which are not only subjective but ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
