Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Predictive role of cancer ratio in combination with pleural fluid cell block analysis in suspected malignant pleural effusion

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Bronchology
Background The Second most common cause of exudative pleural effusion was malignancy. The diagnosis of suspected MPE was challenging, as it required invasive procedures for tissue biopsy.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Utility of Cell Block Preparation From CT-Guided FNAC with Immunohistochemistry in Diagnosing Primary Lung Carcinoma: A Prospective Study in A Tertiary Care Hospital

open access: yesNational Journal of Medical Research
Introduction: Lung cancer remains a leading cause of cancer mortality globally, making early diagnosis critical. While core needle biopsy provides tissue samples, it carries risks including pneumothorax and hemothorax.

A laboratory approach to predict the water-based drill-in fluid damage on a shale formation

open access: yesEnergy Exploration & Exploitation, 2020
Shale gas production after drill-in, completion, and hydraulic fracturing is strongly affected by formation damage. In order to determine the damage mechanisms for nonmarine shale reservoir, a series of assessments of sensitivity damage, water block ...

A Contraction Analysis of the Convergence of Risk-Sensitive Filters

open access: yes, 2013
A contraction analysis of risk-sensitive Riccati equations is proposed. When the state-space model is reachable and observable, a block-update implementation of the risk-sensitive filter is used to show that the N-fold composition of the Riccati map is ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

A Double Fluorescent Staining Method Increases the Sensitivity of the Cytokinesis-Block Micronucleus Assay

open access: yesMethods and Protocols
The micronucleus test is one of the most popular genotoxicity assays. In order to avoid underestimation of micronuclei frequencies by counting non-replicating cells, the cytokinesis-blocked micronucleus test has been developed.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
