Plaintext-Related Image Encryption Algorithm Based on Block Structure and Five-Dimensional Chaotic Map

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In this paper, a five-dimensional discrete hyperchaotic map is constructed by combining Logistic map and 3D discrete Lorenz map. Based on this chaotic system, a block-based image encryption scheme related to plaintext is designed.

On Hierarchical Composite Endpoints in Pediatric Cancer Supportive Care: Illustrative Examples From Two Multi‐Center Phase‐III Randomized Clinical Trials

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric supportive care clinical trials often involve multiple clinically important outcomes, complicating trial interpretation. Hierarchical composite endpoints (HCEs) provide a framework to integrate key outcomes according to clinical importance.

Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

Development of a rapid neutralizing antibody test for SARS-CoV-2 and its application for neutralizing antibody screening and vaccinated serum testing

open access: yesInfectious Medicine, 2022
Background: Since the outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the high infection rate and mutation frequency of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the causative agent, have contributed to the ongoing global pandemic ...

New Constructions with Quadratic Separation between Sensitivity and Block Sensitivity.

open access: yesElectron. Colloquium Comput. Complex., 2018
Nisan and Szegedy [Nisan and Szegedy, 1994] conjectured that block sensitivity is at most polynomial in sensitivity for any Boolean function. There is a huge gap between the best known upper bound on block sensitivity in terms of sensitivity - which is exponential, and the best known separating examples - which give only a quadratic separation between ...

On Separation Between the Degree of a Boolean Function and the Block Sensitivity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
In this paper we study the separation between two complexity measures: the degree of a Boolean function as a polynomial over the reals and its block sensitivity. We show that separation between these two measures can be improved from $ d^2(f) \geq bs(f) $, established by Tal, to $ d^2(f) \geq (\sqrt{10} - 2)bs(f) $.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Diagnostic Accuracy of Cell Block versus Conventional Cytological Smear in Malignant Pleural Effusion: A Comparative Study

open access: yesPakistan Journal of Medical Research
Background: Malignant pleural effusion (MPE) is a common oncological complication that requires accurate diagnosis to guide appropriate management. Cytological smears are widely used; however, they have variable sensitivity. The cell block technique has

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
