Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Effects of erector spinae plane block on intraoperative blood pressure variability, blood loss, and postoperative pain in transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion

open access: yesScientific Reports
Erector spinae plane block (ESPB) improves recovery and reduces opioid use, while intraoperative blood pressure variability (IBPV) negatively impacts postoperative outcomes.

Intein‐based modular chimeric antigen receptor platform for specific CD19/CD20 co‐targeting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CARtein is a modular CAR platform that uses split inteins to splice antigen‐recognition modules onto a universal signaling backbone, enabling precise, scarless assembly without re‐engineering signaling domains. Deployed here against CD19 and CD20 in B‐cell malignancies, the design supports flexible multi‐antigen targeting to boost T‐cell activation and

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Subcutaneous angiomyolipoma in a bichon frise dog. Clinical case

open access: yesRevista Científica
Angiomyolipoma located on the caudal part of the abdominal wall was reported in a 15–year–old femal bichon frise dog weighing 17 kg. A radiographic examination was performed followed by a histological examination of the mass, which revealed a benign ...

Dysregulation of of phospholipid-specific phagocytosis by B1 B cells in diet-induced obese mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
B1 B cells have received increasing attention recently due to their newly discovered phagocytic and microbicidal capabilities. Several studies have demonstrated that B1 cells can phagocytize polystyrene fluorescent particles, bacteria (Staphylococcus ...

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Commercialisation of the supply of organs for transplantation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Internationally, there is a shortage of organs available for organ donation. Human tissue and cells are becoming increasingly valuable as part of commercially valuable biotechnological research.

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Impact of functional MRI data preprocessing pipeline on default-mode network detectability in patients with disorders of consciousness

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroinformatics, 2013
An emerging application of resting-state functional MRI is the study of patients with disorders of consciousness (DoC), where integrity of default-mode network (DMN) activity is associated to the clinical level of preservation of consciousness.
