Dynamic, Reconfigurable, and Hierarchical Biosynthetic Composites via Collagen Self‐Assembly within Highly Crowded Microgel Pastes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A new approach to extracellular matrix‐mimetic, hierarchical biomaterials is presented. Soft gels composed of overpacked hydrogel microparticle arrays present a biomolecularly crowded environment permissive to the self‐assembly of collagen networks.

Effects of Platelets on Platelet Concentrate Product on the Activation of Human Peripheral Blood Monocyte Cells

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ’Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Shahīd Ṣadūqī Yazd, 2016
Introduction: Monocytes can interact with platelets due to their surface molecules such as P-selectin glycoprotein ligand-1 (PSGL-1), and form monocyte-platelet complex. In the present study, the effects of platelets interaction of platelet concentrates (

Straightforward Preparation of Polyurethane‐Based Biomaterials with Dual Antibacterial and Anti‐Adhesive Properties for Long‐Lasting Catheter Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study presents the elaboration of antibacterial, antiadhesive, and antibiofilm polyurethane by a straightforward process based on the co‐extrusion of 2 wt.% of both antibacterial and antiadhesive copolymer. The material proves to be active even after pre‐exposition to biological media and prevents E. coli biofilm formation without toxicity.
