Study on monthly variation of phytoplankton in the coastal waters of Lavan Island

open access: yes‬‭Majallah-i ̒Ilmī-i Shīlāt-i Īrān, 2001
Samples for monthly variation of phytoplankton species were collected in two stations from October 1996 till September 1997. In this study 65 species of phytoplankton related to diatoms, dinoflagellates and blue-green algae were identified.

Discovery of viruses lysing blue-green algae in the Dneprovsk reservoirs. [Translation of: Water blooms (ed. A. V. Topachevskii) pp.171-174. Kiev, Naukova Dumka, 1968] [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Viruses, which are characterised by a relative simplicity of chemical composition, are involved with all the groups of the animal and plant world. The discovery of viruses of lower organisms has special interest.

OCTOID: A Soft Robotic System Featuring Programmable Shape Morphing and Dynamic Structural Coloration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by octopuses, actuating legs based on soft materials are fabricated with programmed chiroptical properties and mechanical behaviors to achieve dynamic color modulation and reversible shape morphing, and these legs are developed into a modular OCTOID system.

The Effect of Amino Acids on the Formation of Amorphous Calcium Carbonate Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biomineral formation often proceeds via the assembly of amorphous calcium carbonate (ACC) nanoparticles with narrow size distributions. Using in situ SAXS coupled to a stopped‐flow device, we follow synthetic ACC formation with a 10 ms time resolution and show that amino acids narrow the size distribution at low supersaturation, highlighting their key ...

Advancing from MOFs and COFs to Functional Macroscopic Porous Constructs

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review study investigates the recent progress and methodologies for manufacturing metal–organic framework (MOF) or covalent–organic framework (COF)‐based 3D structured macroscopic porous constructs with high structural integrity, providing the possibility to control their porosity across dimensions.

State‐of‐the‐Art, Insights, and Perspectives for MOFs‐Nanocomposites and MOF‐Derived (Nano)Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Different approaches to MOF‐NP composite formation, such as ship‐in‐a‐bottle, bottle‐around‐the‐ship and in situ one‐step synthesis, are used. Owing to synergistic effects, the advantageous features of the components of the composites are beneficially combined, and their individual drawbacks are mitigated.
