MOLECULAR CHARACTERIZATION AND PATHOGENICITY TEST ON CITRUS FRUITS BY GREEN MOLD AND BLUE MOLD

open access: yesJournal of microbiology, biotechnology and food sciences
Citrus fruits are essential for preventing various health conditions, including diabetes, neurological diseases, and cancer. Among the postharvest diseases affecting citrus fruits, Penicillium digitatum and Penicillium italicum are particularly significant. This study aimed to characterize Penicillium spp.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Identification of Penicillium expansum causing postharvest blue mold decay of apple fruit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Penicillium expansum (Link) Thom. is one of the most important postharvest pathogens of apple fruit worldwide. It causes blue mold, a decay that can lead to significant economic losses during storage, which can also impact fruit destined for processing

The Neutral Carbonyl Compounds in Blue-Mold Type Cheese

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1956
Summary A simple procedure is described for the detection of the various methyl ketones in blue-mold type cheese which entails vacuum distillation of relatively small samples and paper chromatographic separation of the mixed 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone derivatives formed in the distillates. Application of the method in the examination of 10 different

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Inhibitory effect of Pseudomonas spp. on the development of Botrytis cinerea and Penicillium expansum

open access: yesPlant Protection Science, 2004
The influence of antagonistic Pseudomonas spp. on the development of Botrytis cinerea and Penicillium expansum was studied in liquid cultures. Two strains of Pseudomonas spp. (B194 and B224), originally isolated from apple leaves and fruits, respectively,

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Construction of Composite Microorganisms and Their Physiological Mechanisms of Postharvest Disease Control in Red Grapes

open access: yesFoods
Red grapes often suffer from postharvest diseases like blue mold and black mold caused by Penicillium expansum and Aspergillus niger. Biological control using beneficial yeasts and bacteria is an effective method to manage these diseases. Rhodotorula sp.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
