Winter Shading of Blueberry Plants in the Southeastern United States
In central Florida, southern highbush blueberries ( Vaccinium corymbosumhybrids) are often treated with hydrogen cyanamide (HC) to replace lack of chilling and enhance flowering and fruiting. Experiments were conducted to determine the effects of repeated applications of a processed-kaolin particle film product (PKPF) and a flat-top shade structure on ...

An invaluable transgenic blueberry for studying chilling-induced flowering in woody plants [PDF]
Many deciduous woody crops require a minimum level of chilling to break dormancy and allow the seasonal growth of vegetative and floral buds. In this study, we report the discovery of an invaluable transgenic event of the blueberry cultivar 'Legacy' (hereafter, Mu-Legacy) for studying chilling-induced flowering in woody plants.

Abstract BACKGROUND The aim of this work was to characterize the polyphenolic profile of encapsulated purple sweet potato peel extract (PSPPE), to assess the effects of its addition (1.5 and 3 g L−1) on the color, texture, microbiological quality, microstructure, and sensory attributes of fresh goat cheese, and to monitor the polyphenolic profile and ...

Conservation Conundrum: At-risk Bumble Bees (Bombus spp.) Show Preference for Invasive Tufted Vetch (Vicia cracca) While Foraging in Protected Areas [PDF]
In recent decades, some bumble bee species have declined, including in North America. Declines have been reported in species of bumble bees historically present in Ontario, including: yellow bumble bee (Bombus fervidus) (Fabricus, 1798), American bumble ...

Split-root Water Application to Highbush Blueberry Plants
Abstract Watered split-root portions of 2-year-old plants of ‘Bluecrop’ blueberry ( Vaccinium corymbosum L.) exhibited significantly greater shoot dry weight, shoot thickness, shoot length, mean number of shoots, and leaf dry weight than nonwatered portions. Watered portions

Abstract The recovery of large carnivores in Europe raises issues related to sharing landscape with humans. Beyond technical solutions, it is widely recognized that social factors also contribute to shaping coexistence. In this context, scholars increasingly stress the need to adopt place‐based approaches by analysing how humans and wildlife interact ...

Bacterial Wilt of Southern Highbush Blueberry Caused by Ralstonia solanacearum
Bacterial wilt is a newly discovered disease of blueberry in Florida. Plants with bacterial wilt will show signs of water stress such as wilting and marginal leaf burn. The disease was initially confirmed on three farms in Florida.
