First Report of Colletotrichum acutatum in Blueberry Plants in Spain

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2001
An anthracnose disease was observed affecting leaves of high-bush blueberry plants (Vaccinium corymbosum L. ‘Sharpblue’) in small areas within two production fields in Huelva Province of Andalucía, in southwestern Spain. The first symptoms observed in late spring were circular, necrotic lesions, red to salmon in color, and ranging from 3 to 20 mm in ...

Effects of different plant growth regulators on blueberry fruit quality

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2017
In order to understand the effects of different plant growth regulators (PGRs) on blueberry fruit growth, various concentrations of Abscisic acid (ABA), Methyl jasmonate (MJ), Brassinolide (BR), Melatonin (MT) were sprayed on blueberry cv. 'Brigita' fruits. The results showed that all the PGRs put into effect on improving the quality of blueberry fruit.

Winter vs. Summer Half-Hedging of ‘Tifblue’ Rabbiteye Blueberry Plants [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Small Fruit & Viticulture, 1997
Abstract A field study was initiated in mid-July, 1988, to investigate the effects of removing growth taller than one meter on half from one side each within 2 years (half-hedging) in summer and winter on total yield, marketable yield, and fruit size of mature rabbiteye blueberry (Vaccinium ashei Reade) cv. Tifblue.

Planting recommendations for blueberry — sweetfern sites in northern Ontario

open access: yesThe Forestry Chronicle, 1975
This is an extension of a 1968 report on experiments established to study species, age-classes, and planting site treatments for blueberry-sweet-fern (Vaccinium-Comptonia) sites in northern Ontario. Red pine (3–0 and 2–2) and jack pine (2–0 and 2–1) were planted in scalped spots, in furrows, in herbicide-spray strips, in ground cover, and in bulldozed

STAKES ROOTING OF ‘Biloxi’ BLUEBERRY (Vaccinium corymbosum L.) PLANTS

open access: yesAgrociencia
Blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L.), native to North America, has become one of the most important fruit crops in Mexico and the world due to its hardiness, flavor, and health benefits. The objective of this study was to evaluate the inductive capacity of naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA), salicylic acid (SAL), their combination, a Plantago spp.

[Agrobacterium rubi strains from blueberry plants are highly diverse].

open access: yesRevista Argentina de microbiologia, 2015
The diversity of a collection of Agrobacterium rubi strains isolated from blueberries from different regions of Argentina was studied by conventional microbiological tests and molecular techniques. Results from biochemical and physiological reactions, as well as from rep-PCR and RFLP analysis of PCR-amplified 23S rDNA showed high phenotypic and ...

Extreme heat affects blueberry pollen nutrition, bee health, and plant reproduction

open access: yesScientific Reports
Extreme heat events are increasingly common, and if these align with pollen development, they can alter pollen nutrient composition. However, no studies have examined how the timing of heat relative to bud development affects the role of pollen in plant pollination and bee health.

Genomic characterization and survey of a second luteovirus infecting blueberries

open access: yesVirus Research
New and emerging viral problems may be contributing to blueberry decline. In this research we described a new virus detected in Oregon blueberry production field and surveyed the region for its potential spread. The complete genome sequence of a putative
