A Smart Bio‐Battery Facilitates Diabetic Bone Defect Repair Via Inducing Macrophage Reprogramming and Synergistically Modulating Bone Remodeling Coupling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This research presents a novel implantable bio‐battery, GF‐OsG, tailored for diabetic bone repair. GF‐OsG generates microcurrents in high‐glucose conditions to enhance vascularization, shift macrophages to the M2 phenotype, and regulate immune responses.

BMP-2/6 heterodimer is more effective than BMP-2 or BMP-6 homodimers as inductor of differentiation of human embryonic stem cells. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
Bone Morphogenetic Protein (BMP) signaling pathways are involved in differentiation of stem cells into diverse cell types, and thus BMPs can be used as main guidance molecules for in vitro differentiation of human stem cells. We have analyzed the ability ...

BMP signaling and cellular dynamics during regeneration of airway epithelium from basal progenitors

open access: yesDevelopment, 2016
The pseudostratified epithelium of the lung contains ciliated and secretory luminal cells and basal stem/progenitor cells. To identify signals controlling basal cell behavior we screened factors that alter their self-renewal and differentiation in a ...

Biointerface Membranes Orchestrating Site‐Specific Osteoimmunomodulatory and Antibacterial Effects for Enhanced Osseous Regeneration in Periodontal Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, a biointerface membrane engineered with site‐specific interfacial properties is developed. During implantation between gingival and bone defect, the membrane creates a pro‐osteogenic microenvironment, precisely modulates cellular activities at each biointerface, and facilitates the orchestration of complex healing events, ultimately leading to ...

A Message Passing Algorithm for the Minimum Cost Multicut Problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We propose a dual decomposition and linear program relaxation of the NP -hard minimum cost multicut problem. Unlike other polyhedral relaxations of the multicut polytope, it is amenable to efficient optimization by message passing.

Tissue Engineered Human Elastic Cartilage From Primary Auricular Chondrocytes for Ear Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Despite over three decades of research, no tissue‐engineered solution for auricular reconstruction in microtia patients has reached clinical translation. The key challenge lies in generating functional elastic cartilage ex vivo. Here, we integrate synergistic cell‐biomaterial strategies to engineer auricular grafts with mechanical and histological ...

A Comparative Study on New Design Fixation Plate for Parasymphysis of Mandible Fracture with Conventional System

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences
Background: A new non-compression MP has been developed that offers similar benefits to 3D plates and is easier to fix in the PS region (R), as the conceptual design of the plates will allow fx in the PSR while retaining the 3D geometry of the plate. Aim:

Regeneration of Bone- and Tendon/Ligament-Like Tissues Induced by Gene Transfer of Bone Morphogenetic Protein-12 in a Rat Bone Defect [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Tissue Engineering, 2010
Members of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family have diverse physiological roles. For instance, BMP-2 stimulates osteogenesis, while BMP-12 induces the formation of tendon/ligament-like tissues. Here, we designed a study to

Salivary inflammatory biomarkers during initial orthodontic tooth movement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BACKGROUND: Orthodontic tooth movement is a complex process involving a number of inflammatory and anabolic/catabolic pathways. Further, successful treatment depends on proper timing of orthodontic measures with regard to patient’s growth spurt ...

Characterizing the easy-to-find subgraphs from the viewpoint of polynomial-time algorithms, kernels, and Turing kernels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We study two fundamental problems related to finding subgraphs: (1) given graphs G and H, Subgraph Test asks if H is isomorphic to a subgraph of G, (2) given graphs G, H, and an integer t, PACKING asks if G contains t vertex-disjoint subgraphs isomorphic
