A block–particle–bar coupled algorithm to simulate tunnel excavation and support

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2023
During tunnel excavation, the stress of the surrounding rock is redistributed, leading to a local stress concentration around the tunnel. In addition, blasting excavation and other factors lead to a strength reduction of rock mass around the tunnel and ...

Autonomous bolt loosening detection using deep learning

open access: yesStructural Health Monitoring, 2019
Machine vision-based structural health monitoring is gaining popularity due to the rich information one can extract from video and images. However, the extraction of characteristic parameters from images often requires manual intervention, thereby ...

PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

Experimental study on corrosion of 3D-printed bolts based on metal powder in simulated mine water

open access: yes工程科学学报
Coal has long been central to China’s energy strategy, with bolt support playing a crucial role in mining operations. As mining depths increase, more challenging conditions emerge, including corrosive underground environments marked by water, high ...

Study on the Lateral Force of the Single Lap Joint of Composite Laminates

open access: yesHangkong gongcheng jinzhan, 2018
In the composite material single lap joint structure, due to the eccentricity of the load, the lateral force is generated in the lap joint, which causes the lateral displacement of the joint and deflects the bolt.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Development of simplified finite-element model using interpolation rigid-body element for bolted joint of attachment rail in rolling stock

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu
Since many bolted connections are used in rolling stock, it is necessary to improve the prediction accuracy of stress distribution of the connections in order to reduce the weight and improve the reliability of the structure. In addition, it is important

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Effect of the Residual Stress on the Fatigue Strength of a Bolt in Bolt/Nut Assemblies

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2012
The residual stress at the thread root of a bolt is one of the major factors influencing the fatigue strength. Some hypotheses have been proposed to predict the fatigue strength from the local stress on the thread root.
