A 3D Human Bone and Bone Marrow‐on‐a‐Chip Model for In Vitro Bone Remodeling and Immune Cell Maintenance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a human Bone (and Bone Marrow)‐on‐a‐Chip model based on native human bone scaffolds and autologous cells. Dynamic perfusion and sequential cell seeding replicate the physiological bone remodeling process in vitro, enabling the long‐term culture of functional, mature bone marrow immune subpopulations.

Effects of fixed orthodontic lingual retainers on PDL stress, root resorption risk, and tooth displacement

open access: yesScientific Reports
To date, no study has compared the effects of CAD/CAM versus flexible multistrand wire (FMS) retainers in the presence/absence of root resorption and/or alveolar crestal bone resorption on the anterior mandibular teeth’s stresses/displacements. Therefore,

A three-dimensional finite element analysis on the effects of implant materials and designs on periprosthetic tibial bone resorption.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
IntroductionImplant material is a more important factor for periprosthetic tibial bone resorption than implant design after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The virtual perturbation study was planned to perform using single case of proximal tibia model. We

Peri-implant bone resorption risk of anterior maxilla narrow single implants: a finite-element analysis

open access: yesBiomaterial Investigations in Dentistry, 2022
Statement of the problem: Narrow implants have been recommended in high esthetic demand regions to ensure greater buccal bone thickness (BBT) and minimize soft-tissue recession due to insufficient bone support.

Combating Inflammation and Promoting Anabolism in Osteoarthritic Cartilage Defect With an MMP13‐Sensing Dual‐Drug Scaffold

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Osteoarthritis (OA) is a widespread degenerative joint condition marked by progressive cartilage breakdown, and a chronic inflammatory microenvironment, where conventional therapies largely fail to halt disease progression. To address this unmet need, an intra‐articularly implantable, disease‐responsive scaffold was developed for combinatorial

Local mechanical stimuli regulate bone formation and resorption in mice at the tissue level. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Bone is able to react to changing mechanical demands by adapting its internal microstructure through bone forming and resorbing cells. This process is called bone modeling and remodeling.

Engineering Approaches to Modify Immunomodulatory Functions of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSCs): Tissue Regeneration and Clinical Application

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) show promise for treating immune‐related disorders through immunomodulation and tissue regeneration. This review gives a brief overview of current clinical approval of MSC therapies. It also discussed how bioengineering, including genetic modification, biomaterial delivery, extracellular vesicles, and iPSC‐derived MSCs,

Genistein Prevents Bone Resorption Diseases by Inhibiting Bone Resorption and Stimulating Bone Formation

open access: yesBiological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 2003
Genistein, a soybean-derived isoflavone, has been shown to suppress osteoclastic bone resorption. To clarify the mechanisms underlying this action, we investigated the effects of genistein on the differentiation, cytoskeleton and function in mice osteoclasts in vitro and bone metabolism in ovariectomized rats.Primary OCs were isolated from 3 week-old ...

Amuc_1473 Links Gut Microbes to Skeletal Homeostasis and Counteracts Multifactorial Osteoporosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Amuc_1473, a previously uncharacterized protein enriched in Akkermansia muciniphila‐derived extracellular vesicles, is identified as a gut–bone messenger that promotes osteogenesis and inhibits osteoclastogenesis by engaging transcriptional and translational regulators in bone cells.

DIAGNOSIS OF THE ALVEOLAR BONE CONDITION IN CASES OF TEETH WITH ANTERIOR CROSS BITE [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of IMAB
Anterior cross bite is an occlusal etiological factor for the occurrence of gingival recession and resorption of the alveolar bone. Aim: To examine the condition of the alveolar bone in relation to incisor inclination in subjects with anterior cross ...
