Impact of Bone Marrow Aspirate Tregs on the Response Rate of Younger Newly Diagnosed Acute Myeloid Leukemia Patients

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, 2018
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is widely considered a distinct clinical entity with a well-defined molecular and genetics-based prognosis. Particularly in a younger patient, the therapeutic approach depends largely on diagnostic risk stratification, which ...

Dynamic International Prognostic Scoring System scores, pre-transplant therapy and chronic graft-versus-host disease determine outcome after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for myelofibrosis

open access: yesHaematologica, 2012
Background Myelofibrosis is a myeloproliferative stem cell disorder curable exclusively by allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and is associated with substantial mortality and morbidity. The aim of this study was to assess disease-specific

Efficient Estimation of Semiparametric Transformation Models for the Cumulative Incidence of Competing Risks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
The cumulative incidence is the probability of failure from the cause of interest over a certain time period in the presence of other risks. A semiparametric regression model proposed by Fine and Gray (1999) has become the method of choice for formulating the effects of covariates on the cumulative incidence.

Predicting the outcomes of treatment to eradicate the latent reservoir for HIV-1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Massive research efforts are now underway to develop a cure for HIV infection, allowing patients to discontinue lifelong combination antiretroviral therapy (ART). New latency-reversing agents (LRAs) may be able to purge the persistent reservoir of latent virus in resting memory CD4+ T cells, but the degree of reservoir reduction needed for cure remains

Tri‐Layered Bioactive Cutaneous Scaffold with Integrated Bioactive Metal Organic Frameworks to Promote Full‐Thickness Infected Diabetic Wound Healing: Multifaceted Therapeutic Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The limitations of existing clinical treatments highlight the need for a more comprehensive strategy for addressing infected diabetic wounds. A tri‐layered scaffold is developed to deliver therapeutics loaded in CuBDC and ZIF‐8 MOFs that are tailored to the requirements of deep‐infected diabetic wounds.

Ultra‐Fine 3D Bioprinting of Dynamic Hyaluronic Acid Hydrogel for in Vitro Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
3D bioprinting merges tissue engineering and additive manufacturing to create biological structures. A bioink is developed by modifying hyaluronic acid, a natural extracellular matrix polymer, with cysteine. Potassium iodide is later added to tune gelation kinetics, enabling fine printing with a 32G needle.
