Gold(I) Phosphine/Phosphido‐Borohydride Complexes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Synthesis, structure, and electrochemical characteristics of a homologous series of gold(I) complexes featuring phosphine and phosphido–borohydride ligands. A homologous series of linear, mononuclear gold(I) phosphine/phosphido‐borohydride complexes, encompassing [Au(PR3)2]+ 1, [Au(PR3)(PR2BH3)] 2 and [Au(PR2BH3)2]– 3 (R = tBu, Ad), has been prepared ...

Far-infrared spectroelectrochemistry: a study of linear molybdenum/iron/sulfur clusters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The far-infrared spectroelectrochemistry of linear M/Fe/S (M=Mo, W) complexes was investigated in methylene chloride and dichloroethane. With CsI as spectral windows, bands above 200 cm−1 can be observed in methylene chloride, except for a weak methylene

Triptindane‐9,10,11‐triol: Threefold Hydride Transfer from Lithium Aluminum Hydride as the Key Step to C3‐Symmetrically Trifunctionalized Tribenzo[3.3.3]propellanes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Threefold reduction of 9,10,11‐triptindanetrione with LiAlH4 or NaBH4 yields exclusively the C3‐symmetric triol, suggesting an intracomplex (“rolling”) mechanism. However, use of LiAlH4/LiAlD4 (1 : 1) reveals a preceding hydride exchange. Mechanistic implications are discussed including the reduction of the related diketone.

Development of Selective Plane Illumination Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering Spectral Microscopy for Improved Cellular Imaging

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
Selective plane illumination (SPI) is combined with SERS spectral imaging to reduce background, improve image contrast, and enable improved spectroscopy from molecules on the surface of nanoparticles. This approach provides improved imaging and spectroscopy from nanoparticles in complex environments, such as biological cells.

Photooxidation of 18‐Carbon Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids to Prepare Mono‐Hydroxylated Octadecanoids

open access: yesLipids, EarlyView.
We developed a fast and simple one‐step synthetic strategy to produce mono‐hydroxylated metabolites based on the photosensitized oxidation of 18‐carbon polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). This approach could likely be extended to other PUFAs, suggesting that photosensitized oxidation could be employed to rapidly prepare hydroperoxides from multiple ...

Low‐Hysteresis Cellulose‐Based Hydrogels for Strain Detecting

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Low‐hysteresis hydrogel with high cellulose content is prepared. The modified cellulose is prepared through a sequential periodate oxidation and borohydride reduction process. The hydrogel can be used as a strain sensor with a gauge factor of 1.1 in the 0%–300% sensing range.
