Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Modal analysis of anisotropic plates using the boundary element method

open access: yes, 2015
Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP)A numerical formulation for analysis of dynamic problems of thin anisotropic plates bending is presented. The bending behavior follows Kirchhoff's hypothesis.

An analysis of the boundary layer in the 1D surface Cauchy–Born model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The surface Cauchy–Born (SCB) method is a computational multi-scale method for the simulation of surface-dominated crystalline materials. We present an error analysis of the SCB method, focused on the role of surface relaxation.

Fine-Grained Boundary Conditions in Field-Based Routing

open access: yesSensors
In the realm of industrial wireless mesh networks, an efficient routing protocol is highly demanded to play a crucial role in ensuring that packets are efficiently directed along shorter and congestion-free routes toward gateways. Field-based routing has

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Misorientation behavior of an aluminum bicrystal with 15.7o symmetric tilt boundary using simple shear

open access: yes, 2012
[[abstract]]The misorientation behavior was investigated in the region of a symmetrical tilt \112[ boundary with a misorientation of 15.7. The strain and orientation distributions were obtained by DIC (digital-image-correlation) and EBSD (electron ...

Optimal perturbations in boundary layer flows over rough surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This work provides a three-dimensional energy optimization analysis, looking for perturbations inducing the largest energy growth at a finite time in a boundary-layer flow in the presence of roughness elements.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Unsteadiness in shock-wave/boundary layer interactions

open access: yes, 2010
The need for better understanding of the low-frequency unsteadiness observed in shockwave/turbulent boundary layer interactions has been driving research in this area forseveral decades.
