The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Bounds for automorphic L-functions. III
[Part I, cf. ibid. 112, 1-8 (1993; Zbl 0765.11038).] This is the second in a series of papers developing the authors' method for bounding automorphic \(L\)-functions at a point on the critical line. Such \(L\)-functions possess a functional equation due to Hecke which may be combined with the Phragmen-Lindelöf principle to yield the so-called convexity

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Which solutions of the third problem for the Poisson equation are bounded?
This paper deals with the problem Δu=g on G and ∂u/∂n+uf=L on ∂G. Here, G⊂ℝm, m>2, is a bounded domain with Lyapunov boundary, f is a bounded nonnegative function on the boundary of G, L is a bounded linear functional on W1,2(G) representable by a real ...

An inequality for bounded functions [PDF]
In this note we prove optimal inequalities for bounded functions in terms of their deviation from their mean. These results extend and generalize some known inequalities due to Thong (2011) and Perfetti (2011)

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

At low cell density, SETDB1 and YAP1 accumulate in the nucleus. As cell density increases, the Hippo pathway is gradually activated, and SETDB1 is associated with increased YAP1 phosphorylation. At high cell density, phosphorylated YAP1 is sequestered in the cytoplasm, while SETDB1 becomes polyubiquitinated and degraded by the ubiquitin–proteasome ...

Functions of bounded (2,k)-variation in 2-normed spaces
In this work, the notion of function of bounded variation in 2-normed spaces was established (Definition 4.2), the set of functions of bounded $ (2, k) $-variation was endowed with a norm (Theorem 4.5), and it was proved that such a set is a Banach space
