Protein Oâglycosylation in the Bacteroidota phylum
Species of the Bacteroidota phylum exhibit a unique Oâglycosylation system. It modifies noncytoplasmic proteins on a specific amino acid motif with a shared glycan core but a speciesâspecific outer glycan. A locus of multiple glycosyltransferases responsible for the synthesis of the outer glycan has been identified.

Two biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease, amyloid βâpeptide (Aβ) and tau, induce the transformation of Uâ251 and other glioblastoma cell lines into neurotoxic A1âlike reactive astrocytes. This transformation is produced by cytokines and is followed by upregulation of PMCA activity and isoform expression, and is closely associated with inflammation, as ...

The contrast transfer function (CTF) is an imaging aberration that is a major resolutionâlimiting factor in cryoâelectron microscopy (cryoâEM). Precise CTF estimation is key to overcoming this limitation, but is particularly challenging in cryoâelectron tomography (cryoâET) data. Here, we present an approach for using geometric information to assist in
