RKIP overexpression reduces lung adenocarcinoma aggressiveness and sensitizes cells to EGFR‐targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RKIP, a metastasis suppressor protein, modulates key oncogenic pathways in lung adenocarcinoma. In silico analyses linked low RKIP expression to poor survival. Functional studies revealed RKIP overexpression reduces tumor aggressiveness and enhances sensitivity to EGFR‐targeted therapies, while its loss promotes resistance.

Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

Studies on experimental animals immunized with different antigenic vaccine combinations of Neospora caninum of cattle origin

open access: yesParasites & Vectors
Background Neospora caninum is an intracellular parasitic protozoon that can infect pregnant animals and cause symptoms such as miscarriage, stillbirth and mummified fetuses. It is one of the main causes of miscarriage in bovines. Apical membrane antigen

Isolation and identification of non-tuberculous mycobacteria from aquarium fish in Ilam, Iran

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Tuberculosis and Other Mycobacterial Diseases
Non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) are among the most important pathogens in wild, captive, marine, and freshwater fish species. So, it is important to consider fish as the primary source of infection for aquarium fish and humans.

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Licochalcone A mitigates aflatoxin B1-induced immunotoxicity via ferroptosis in bursa of broilers and macrophages

open access: yesPoultry Science
: Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is a mycotoxin which is responsible for severe damage to the immune system of humans and livestock. Licochalcone A (Lico A), a polyphenol derived from turmeric, has attracted great attention due to its wonderful antioxidant ...

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell
