Dynamics of the Mammalian Placental Metabolome in Placentogenesis and Embryonic Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies three metabolic stages (E8.5, E9.5–10.5, E11.5–14.5) and two transition periods (E8.5–9.5, E10.5–11.5) in mouse placental development. NAD(H) emerges as a key dynamic metabolite that enhances embryonic growth through accelerated segmentation and increased proliferation of mouse embryonic stem cell (mESC)‐induced presomitic ...

Agreement between bovine respiratory disease scoring systems for pre-weaned dairy calves. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Clinical scoring systems have been proposed for respiratory disease diagnosis in calves, including the Wisconsin (WI) system (McGuirk in 2008) which uses five clinical signs, each partitioned into four levels of severity.

Dysfunctional TRIM31 of POMC Neurons Provokes Hypothalamic Injury and Peripheral Metabolic Disorder under Long‐Term Fine Particulate Matter Exposure

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Particulate matter ≤2.5 µm (PM2.5) elevates risks of neurological and chronic metabolic diseases, but the underlying mechanisms linking PM2.5‐induced central nervous system (CNS) injury to metabolic dysfunction remain unclear. Hypothalamic pro‐opiomelanocortin‐expressing (POMC+) neurons regulate systemic metabolic homeostasis, and tripartite motif ...

Pharmacokinetics of pradofloxacin, florfenicol, and tulathromycin and response to treatment of steers experimentally infected with Mannheimia hemolytica

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine
Background Bovine respiratory disease (BRD) is an economically important disease in the beef industry, and a major driver of therapeutic antibiotic use. Pharmacokinetic data of these drugs is relatively limited in diseased animals.

Obesity and Asthma: Adiponectin Receptor 1 (Adipo R1) and Adiponectin Receptor 2 (Adipo R2) are expressed by normal human bronchial epithelial (NHBE) cells at air-liquid interface (ALI) and expression changes with IL-13 stimulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Obesity is recognized as an important risk factor for the development of many chronic diseases such as hypertension, Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) cardiovascular disease, cancer, renal disease, neurologic dysfunction, metabolic syndrome and asthma (3 ...

Remimazolam Ameliorates Autistic‐Like Behaviors via Suppression of Ferroptosis in VTA Dopaminergic Neurons in a Mouse Model of ASD

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The ultra‐short‐acting sedative remimazolam has a sustained therapeutic effect on the core symptoms of VPA‐exposed mice. Remimazolam, a GABA agonist, exerts its therapeutic effects by protecting dopamine neurons in the VTA of VPA‐exposed mice. Meanwhile, ferroptosis is the critical mechanism by which remimazolam protects VTA dopaminergic neurons and ...

Establishment of a multiplex qPCR assay for the detection of pathogens associated with bovine respiratory disease complex

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
IntroductionThe bovine respiratory disease complex poses a significant threat to the cattle industry, necessitating a multifaceted approach to address its occurrence. The syndrome is caused by various pathogens such as bovine respiratory syncytial virus (

Extracellular Vesicle‐Delivered tRF‐His‐GTG‐1 Reprograms Neutrophil Lipophagy and Triggers Inflammation in COVID‐19

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies platelet‐derived extracellular vesicles as key immunometabolic regulators in COVID‐19. The delivery of tRF‐His‐GTG‐1 to neutrophils activates TLR8mTOR signaling, disrupts lipophagy, and amplifies NET‐mediated inflammation. Importantly, targeting this axis restores neutrophil homeostasis, offering a potential therapeutic strategy ...

Anti‐PD‐1 Nanobody‐Armored MSLN CAR‐T Therapy for Malignant Mesothelioma: Preclinical and Clinical Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel therapy using engineered immune cells (NAC‐T cells) showed promise for refractory malignant mesothelioma. Based on the encouraging preclinical data, the first‐in‐human trial is initiated, demonstrating tolerable safety and promising anti‐tumor activity (ORR 63.6%, DCR 100%, including one CR).
