Nanoscale liquid crystal polymer Bragg polarization gratings.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2017
We experimentally demonstrate nearly ideal liquid crystal (LC) polymer Bragg polarization gratings (PGs) operating at a visible wavelength of 450 nm and with a sub-wavelength period of 335 nm.

Mechanically Tunable Mechanochromic Device with Covert‐Overt Structural Color and Modulation of its Transparency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel mechanically responsive optical device that modulates light transmission and generates iridescent structural colors under reflection. The optical transition arises from the exposure of nanoparticles upon stretching, which are initially embedded beneath the surface.

Bragg gratings in a few mode microstructured polymer optical fiber in less than 30 seconds.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2015
We report the inscription of a Bragg grating in an undoped polymethylmethacrylate based microstructured fiber in a time record. The fiber has been irradiated with a 248 nm ultraviolet radiation, through the phase mask technique using low fluence and low ...

Multimodal Imaging of Strain and Light Emission of Core–Shell InGaN/GaN Wires under a Sub‐Micrometer Polychromatic X‐Ray Probe

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Micro‐Laue diffraction and excited optical X‐ray luminescence are used to study InGaN/GaN core‐shell wires on the BM32 beamline at the European Synchrotron. Multimodal imaging of X‐ray fluorescence, deviatoric strain tensors and optical emissions is performed using simultaneous mapping.

Brillouin lasing in single-mode tapered optical fiber with inscribed fiber Bragg grating array

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2018
A tapered optical fiber has been manufactured with an array of fiber Bragg gratings (FBG) inscribed during the drawing process. The total fiber peak reflectivity is 5% and the reflection bandwidth is ∼3.5 nm. A coherent frequency domain reflectometry has

Cladding mode coupling in highly localized fiber Bragg gratings: modal properties and transmission spectra

open access: yes, 2010
The spectral characteristics of a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) with a transversely inhomogeneous refractive index profile, differs con- siderably from that of a transversely uniform one.

Non-steady-state extremely asymmetrical scattering of waves in periodic gratings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Extremely asymmetrical scattering (EAS) is a highly resonant type of Bragg scattering with a strong resonant increase of the scattered wave amplitude inside and outside the grating.
