Analysis of volatile flavor compounds in soaked plum wine based on HS-SPME-GC-MS [PDF]
In this study, three kinds of soaked plum wine (whole fruit wine, pulp wine and kernel wine) were prepared by using whole fruit, pulp and kernel of plum as raw materials. The contents of ethyl carbamate (EC) and volatile aroma components in the wine were

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Rethinking brand feminine dimension: brand femininity or brand femininities?. [PDF]
The aim of this research is to gain a deeper understanding of brand personality by focusing on feminine dimension of brands. Previous research in marketing considered the femininity of brands as a unidimensional construct often opposed to masculinity ...

Effects of adding Chinese medicinal materials to the Green-covering Guanyin Tuqu on flavor components of light-flavor Baijiu [PDF]
In order to investigate the effects of 10 Chinese medicinal materials (cinnamon, clove, Salviae miltiorrhizae, ginseng, Astragalus Membranaceus, Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae (Chenpi), Angelica sinensis (Danggui), Ligusticum Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong ...

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Research progress on guaiacol compounds in Baijiu [PDF]
Guaiacol compounds are a kind of important flavor compounds widely existing in Chinese Baijiu. Among them, guaiacol, 4-methylguaiacol, 4-ethylguaiacol, and 4-vinylguaiacol, possessing the characteristics of low flavor threshold and diverse activities ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
