Roles of BRCA1 and its interacting proteins
BioEssays, 2000Germline mutations of BRCA1 predispose women to breast and ovarian cancers. BRCA1 contains several functional domains that interact directly or indirectly with a variety of molecules, including tumor suppressors (p53, RB, BRCA2 and ATM), oncogenes (c-Myc, casein kinase II and E2F), DNA damage repair proteins (RAD50 and RAD51), cell-cycle regulators ...

Characterization of BRCA1 Protein Product
2000Abstract : Germline mutations in the BRCA1 tumor suppressor gene have been implicated in hereditary breast and ovarian cancers. As part of our ultimate goal to characterize novel interactions between BRCA1 and other proteins involved in well-defined pathways, we have pursued an area of research that is just beginning to receive a great deal of ...

Functional Domains of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 Proteins
Journal of Mammary Gland Biology and Neoplasia, 1998The BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes encode large unrelated proteins that presumably function as tumor suppressors in normal epithelial cells of the breast. However, the primary amino acid sequences of these proteins provide few insights into the mechanisms by which BRCA1 and BRCA2 inhibit tumor development.
