Campylobacter jejuni colonization promotes the translocation of Escherichia coli to extra-intestinal organs and disturbs the short-chain fatty acids profiles in the chicken gut [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
For a long time Campylobacter was only considered as a commensal microorganism in avian hosts restricted to the ceca, without any pathogenic features. The precise reasons for the symptomless chicken carriers are still unknown, but investigations of the ...

Fermented soybean meal ameliorates Salmonella Typhimurium infection in young broiler chickens.

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2019
The present study was designed to investigate the effectiveness of dietary fermented soybean meal (FSBM) in comparison with prebiotic (Xylooligosaccharide; XOS) and probiotic (Lactic acid bacteria-based probiotic; LAC) for prevention of Salmonella ...

The Dismal Harvest: The Uneven Landscapes of AI in Agriculture

open access: yesTransactions of the Institute of British Geographers, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this intervention, I examine artificial intelligence (AI) in agriculture through a political ecology lens, analysing how promises of productivity, efficiency, and sustainability take shape across uneven postcolonial landscapes. Building on feminist and critical agrarian perspectives, I focus on the material relations of farming to show that

Changes of total protein and protein fractions in broiler chickens during the fattening period

open access: yesVeterinary World, 2019
Background and Aim: Blood proteins in birds serve as an important indicator in the evaluation of health status and represent a basis in general biochemistry allowing the identification of metabolic alterations. The objective of this study was to evaluate

Direct Ambient Mass Spectrometry for Food, Beverage, and Agricultural Sample Analysis and Research

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, Volume 45, Issue 2, Page 429-452, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT Ambient and direct mass spectrometry (MS) methods are becoming increasingly used for the rapid analysis of food, beverage and agricultural samples. Novel ionization approaches combined with targeted, or untargeted workflows provide analytical outcomes within a greatly reduced time period compared to traditional separation science coupled with ...

Treatment with PPARα Agonist Clofibrate Inhibits the Transcription and Activation of SREBPs and Reduces Triglyceride and Cholesterol Levels in Liver of Broiler Chickens

open access: yesPPAR Research, 2015
PPARα agonist clofibrate reduces cholesterol and fatty acid concentrations in rodent liver by an inhibition of SREBP-dependent gene expression. In present study we investigated the regulation mechanisms of the triglyceride- and cholesterol-lowering ...

Pretreatment with probiotic Enterococcus faecium NCIMB 11181 ameliorates necrotic enteritis-induced intestinal barrier injury in broiler chickens

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2019
The dysfunction of tight-junction integrity caused by necrotic enteritis (NE) is associated with decreased nutrient absorption and gut injury in broiler chickens. Although probiotic Enterococcus faecium (E.

Alfalfa‐Based Dehydrated Silage Pellet as a Source of Nutrients in Laying Hens: I. Effects on Animal Performance and Egg Quality

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 2, March 2026.
Alfalfa‐based silage pellets (ABSP) showed significant results regarding production performance, yolk colour and ω‐3 (PUFAs), as well as the ratio ω‐6/ω‐3 (p < 0.05). The ABSP group also exhibited a higher abundance of beneficial bacteria and a lower abundance of pathogenic bacteria compared to the control group (p < 0.05).

The Impacts of Shatamuli, Ashwagandha and their Combination on Growth Performance, Faecal Microbial Population and Blood Parameters in Sonali Chickens

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Phytogenic feed additives have shown potential in enhancing nutrient utilization, improving performance and mitigating pathogenic challenges in Sonali chicken. Objective The goal of the current study was to assess how Shatamuli (Asparagus racemosus) and Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) affected the Sonali chickens' growth ...
