Synthesis of Cyclopropene‐Modified Fatty Acids Allows Single‐Cell Quantification of Uptake by Immune Cells

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Cyclopropene fatty acids have been made that allow the study of fatty acid uptake in complex mixtures of immune cells with single cell resolution and combined with metabolic and proteomic analysis so that for the first time nutrient uptake can be correlated to the phenotype of single immune cell.

Single-Crystal to Single-Crystal Mechanical Contraction of Metal-Organic Frameworks through Stereoselective Postsynthetic Bromination.

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2015
The properties of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) can be tuned by postsynthetic modification (PSM) to introduce specific functionalities after their synthesis.

Carboranyl‐Curcuminoids for the Neutron Capture‐Based Treatment of Amyloid Aggregates in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The 10B‐enriched monocarbonyl analog of curcumin (BMAC) 10B‐9 enables site‐specific Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) on amyloid‐β (Aβ) fibrils. Neutron irradiation induces histidine oxidation and fibril destabilization, as revealed by 1H‐NMR and FESEM analyses.

Substrate‐Controlled Enantiodivergence in Ni‐Catalyzed Access to Phosphorylated Oxindoles With Quaternary Stereocenters

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
An efficient, enantiodivergent synthesis of phosphorylated oxindoles with quaternary stereocenters is achieved via a nickel‐catalyzed intermolecular Heck‐phosphorylation cascade. Employing a single chiral catalyst, either product enantiomer is selectively accessed simply by changing the alkene leaving group. DFT calculations trace this stereodivergence

Halogenating Enzymes for Active Agent Synthesis: First Steps Are Done and Many Have to Follow

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Halogens can be very important for active agents as vital parts of their binding mode, on the one hand, but are on the other hand instrumental in the synthesis of most active agents.

ESCRT‐Mimetic Nanodegrader Targets STING for Anti‐Inflammatory Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A nanoplatform‐enabled targeted protein degradation strategy is presented to regulate aberrant STING signaling. STING‐ATTEC induces selective autophagic degradation of STING via formation of a STING–ATTEC–LC3 ternary complex, while the cationic FA‐LNP+ system enhances LC3 generation and targeted delivery. Together, this synergistic approach efficiently

trans-Cyclooctenes as Scavengers of Bromine Involved in Catalytic Bromination

open access: yes
Scavengers that capture reactive chemical substances are used to prevent the decomposition of materials. However, in the field of catalysis, the development of scavengers that inhibit background pathways has attracted little attention, although the ...

Occurrence of Acrylamide in Italian Baked Products and Dietary Exposure Assessment

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Acrylamide (AA) is a neo-formed toxic compound that develops in foods during cooking at temperatures above 120 °C. AA shows in vivo neurotoxic and carcinogenic effects, and it is potentially carcinogenic for humans. Its occurrence is common in baked food,

Ultrathin Quasi‐2D Perovskite‐Organic Segregated‐Structure Coupling for High‐Performance Narrowband Photomultiplication Detectors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Quasi‐2D perovskite‐organic segregated‐structure coupling enables low‐power narrowband photomultiplication photodetectors with 110 nm perovskite layer. The optimal device achieves 1200% EQE and 1.82 × 1011 Jones D* at 3 V, offering a new strategy for miniaturized high‐selectivity optoelectronic sensing.
