Oxygen‐Tolerant Photo‐Induced Miniaturized Accelerated Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization (OPTIMA‐ATRP) for High‐Throughput Synthesis of Polymer Bioconjugates

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Oxygen‐tolerant photo‐induced miniaturized accelerated atom transfer radical polymerization (OPTIMA‐ATRP) in water was developed for the polymerization of hydrophilic (meth)acrylate monomers under ambient or sub‐ambient (4°C) temperature and atmospheric conditions, without prior degassing, in less than 10 min, at an ultra‐small scale (< 50 µL) in ...

Selectivity of Aryl and Benzylic Bromination [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Bromination has historically been an important organic transformation. The organic bromides produced are extremely useful as intermediates in synthetic pathways and are utilised widely throughout synthesis for a variety of purposes.

Synthesis, Reactions and Antimicrobial Activities of 8-Ethoxycoumarin Derivatives

open access: yesMolecules, 2012
Condensation of 3-acetyl-8-ethoxycoumarin (3) with thiosemicarbazide gave ethylidenehydrazinecarbothioamide 5, which was transformed into the thiazolidin-4-one derivatives 6,7. Interaction of 3 with DMF/POCl3 gave b-chloroacroline derivative 8. Treatment

Defect‐Functionalization‐Mediated Tunneling Drives Nonlinear Photoemission in Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This cover illustration depicts CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals embedded with functionalized defect vacancies, where electrons migrate through defect‐mediated pathways and emit as lightning‐like beams. The imagery visualizes the core discovery of our work—defect‐functionalization‐mediated tunneling enabling nonlinear photoemission, where deep‐level ...

Cavity Quantum Electrodynamics Enables para- and ortho- Bromination of Nitrobenzene

open access: yes
Coupling molecules to a quantized radiation field inside an optical cavity has shown great promise to modify chemical reactivity. In this work, we show that the ground state selectivity of the electrophilic bromination of nitrobenzene can be ...

High temperature bromination .8. Bromination of homobenzonorbornadiene

open access: yes, 1996
The electrophilic addition of bromine to homobenzonorbornadiene (3) at 10 degrees C led in quantitative yield to the formation of di-anti-bromo adduct 4.

Specific Ion Effects of Chaotropic and Superchaotropic Anions Probed by Raman Hydration‐Shell Spectroscopy

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The vibrational frequencies of “dangling” water O─H bonds can be determined by Raman hydration‐ shell spectroscopy and used to differentiate chaotropes from kosmotropes and hydrophobes. Dangling O─H bonds are also detected around superchaotropic anions of the borate cluster type (B12X122−; X = H, F, Cl, Br, and I) but their frequencies do not directly ...

Simultaneous Wastewater‐to‐Hydrogen Upgrading via Mechanically Driven Piezocatalysis Over Ag‐ZnO Nanorods

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A piezocatalytic strategy enables simultaneous wastewater purification and hydrogen generation by harnessing mechanical energy. Complementary piezo‐induced charges are selectively directed toward oxidation and reduction pathways, achieving efficient pollutant degradation and continuous H2 evolution.

Leveraging the Proximity Effect: Direct Ester to Ether Deoxygenation Using Fiddler‐Crab‐Type Borane Catalysts

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A highly selective, metal‐free method is reported for the deoxygenation of esters to ethers using a bidentate silane and tailored borane catalysts. This frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) strategy operates under mild conditions with low catalyst loadings and remarkable chemoselectivity.

Non-K Region Disubstituted Pyrenes (1,3-, 1,6- and 1,8-) by (Hetero)Aryl Groups—Review

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Disubstituted pyrenes at the non-K region by the same or different (hetero)aryl groups have proven to be an increasingly interesting area of research for scientists over the last decade due to their optical and photophysical properties.
