In Vitro Pharmacokinetic/Pharmacodynamic Modeling of Voriconazole Activity against Aspergillus Species in a New In Vitro Dynamic Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The pharmacodynamics (PD) of voriconazole activity against Aspergillus spp. were studied using a new in vitro dynamic model simulating voriconazole human pharmacokinetics (PK), and the PK-PD data were bridged with human drug exposure to assess the ...

Enhanced Antibacterial Properties of Lyotropic Liquid Crystalline Nanoparticles via Curvature Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lipid nanostructured particles with increasing negative Gaussian curvature progress from vesicles to P‐cubosomes and D‐cubosomes. This curvature hierarchy enhances interaction with bacterial membranes, promotes membrane remodeling and leakage, and potentiates daptomycin activity against MRSA.

In vitro study on the antimicrobial effect of hydroalcoholic extracts from Mentha arvensis L. (Lamiaceae) against oral pathogens - doi: 10.4025/actascibiolsci.v34i4.8959

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Biological Sciences, 2012
In vitro tests could be a valuable tool for the evaluation of medicinal plants’ antimicrobial activity. Mentha arvensis of the Lamiaceae family is one of the most frequently traditional plants used in Brazil. Hydroalcoholic extracts of M.

Single‐cell Transcriptome Profiling Reveals Gene Regulatory Networks and Key Genes in the Root Epidermis and Cortical Cells Associated with Early Nodulation in Glycine Max

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell transcriptomics of soybean roots soon after rhizobial inoculation reveals epidermal and cortical cell‐specific programs and gene‐regulatory networks acting in symbiosis establishment. We identify an ethylene‐driven regulatory circuit involving WRKY6.3/6.4 transcription factors targeting select Nod19 genes that promotes infection‐thread ...

Evaluation of nanofiltration for the purification of an organic acid fermentation broth [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This study focuses on a possible elimination of glucose from a sodium lactate fermentation broth by nanofiltration (NF). The results obtained with single-solute solutions indicate that glucose is clearly more retained that sodium lactate.

A Pan‐Methylome Framework for Population‐Scale Bacterial Epigenomics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A scalable quantitative framework unlocks population‐level comparative epigenomics in bacteria. By transforming site‐level data into standardized traits, this approach reconstructs methylation‐informed phylogenies and defines the core epigenome.

Polysorbate 80 and Helicobacter pylori: a microbiological and ultrastructural study

open access: yesBMC Microbiology, 2012
Background The frequent occurrence of chemoresistant strains reduces the chances of eradication of H. pylori infection and prompted the investigation of non-antibiotic substances active against this organism. Some surfactants enhance the effectiveness of

Dual‐Functional Silent‐Region SERS Nanoplatform for Real‐Time Bacterial Tracking and Wound Healing Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Bacterial wound infections, particularly those caused by Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, are difficult to treat due to biofilm formation, multidrug resistance, and chronic inflammation. Here, we report a multifunctional nanoplatform based on a surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) probe that enables simultaneous photodynamic ...
