Antimicrobial susceptibility profiles of Mycoplasma hyosynoviae strains isolated from five European countries between 2018 and 2023

open access: yesScientific Reports
Mycoplasma (M.) hyosynoviae is a facultative pathogen, causing arthritis in finisher pigs world-wide. In the absence of a commercial vaccine improvement of housing conditions and antibiotic therapy are the only options to alleviate the clinical signs ...

Probiotic‐Derived Vesicles Rectally Delivered via Thermo‐Gelling Copolymer Promote Mucosal Healing and Reduce Inflammation in Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A thermo‐responsive rectal delivery platform integrating probiotic‐derived extracellular vesicles within a hyaluronic acid‐based copolymer enables localized and sustained therapy for ulcerative colitis. The formulation effectively suppresses inflammation, promotes macrophage polarization toward a regenerative phenotype, restores epithelial barrier ...

Hollow Cu2O Nanozymes Enhance Probiotic Therapy for Colitis via Redox Homeostasis and TXNIP/NLRP3 Inflammasome Inhibition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hollow cuprous oxide (H‐Cu2O) nanozymes feature enlarged catalytic surfaces for superior reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging. By efficiently neutralizing mucosal ROS, H‐Cu2O directly suppresses the TXNIP/NLRP3 inflammasome axis and restores intestinal epithelial barrier integrity.

Two‐Dimensional Conjugated Metal Organic Frameworks with Dual Metal Catalytic Active Sites Enhance POD Activity for Antibacterial Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new class of Cu, Ni bimetallic 2D cMOF (CuNi‐HHTP 2D cMOF) featuring dual catalytic sites and high delocalized electronic structure for boosting POD performance. The CuNi‐HHTP 2D‐cMOF enhances the conversion kinetics of H2O2 to ROS, which subsequently enhances antibacterial activity and accelerates the healing of oral ulcers, with macroscopic wound ...

Disrupting Helicobacter pylori Iron Homeostasis With Bismuth Nanodrug‐Mediated Nutritional Trap for Targeted Gastric Infection Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A “nutritional trap” strategy centered on disrupting bacterial iron homeostasis is proposed. The synthesized Bi‐TP@FU (TBF) can target Helicobacter pylori, interfere with the bacterial iron uptake and utilization processes to disrupt its iron homeostasis, induce bacterial death, and meanwhile preserve the balance of the intestinal flora.

Antibacterial activity of Tribulus terrestris and its synergistic effect with Capsella bursa-pastoris and Glycyrrhiza glabra against oral pathogens: an in-vitro study [PDF]

open access: yesAvicenna Journal of Phytomedicine, 2015
Objective: In this study, antimicrobial activities of an ethanol extract of Tribulus terrestris aloneand in combination with Capsella bursa-pastoris and Glycyrrhiza glabra were examined in vitro against six pathogens namely Streptococcus mutans ...

From Flow to Function: Using Different Static Mixers to Fabricate Microarchitected Materials Via Chaotic Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Complex microarchitectures emerge from simple flow‐driven transformations as static mixers iteratively reorient and split material domains. Coupled with diverse deposition strategies, chaotic printing provides an accessible platform for fabricating architected materials that support biologically and chemically relevant processes. ABSTRACT Nature builds
