Biocide susceptibility testing of bacteria: Development of a broth microdilution method

Veterinary Microbiology, 2020
Biocide susceptibility testing (BST) of bacteria lacks standardised methods. Based on a recently established broth macrodilution BST method, a broth microdilution method for BST was developed. To establish the respective protocol, four reference strains Staphylococcus aureus ATCC® 6538, Enterococcus hirae ATCC® 10541, Escherichia coli ATCC® 10536 and ...

Comparison study of broth macrodilution and microdilution antifungal susceptibility tests

Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 1991
An evaluation of broth dilution antifungal susceptibility tests was performed by determining both the micro- and macrodilution MICs of amphotericin B, flucytosine, fluconazole, ketoconazole, and cilofungin against 38 isolates of Candida albicans, Candida lusitaniae, Candida parapsilosis, Candida tropicalis, Cryptococcus neoformans, and Torulopsis ...

Preanalytical conditions for broth microdilution antifungal susceptibility of Microsporum spp.

Mycoses, 2008
SummaryDermatophytoses caused by the genus Microsporum require a long‐duration therapy compared to infections caused by other genera. Treatment of these cutaneous infections includes topical and systemic antifungal agents. Tinea capitis and tinea unguium caused by M. canis and M. gypseum are the most difficult‐to‐treat dermatophytoses.

[Colorimetric broth microdilution for antifungal susceptibility testing].

Rinsho byori. The Japanese journal of clinical pathology, 1996
A colorimetric broth microdilution modification of the National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards (NCCLS) for antifungal susceptibility testing was developed and evaluated. The test method modification includes; air-dried microdilution trays, in which serial two-fold dilutions of three antifungal agents, amphotericin B (AMPH), flucytosine (5 ...

[Multisite evaluation of a colorimetric broth microdilution antifungal susceptibility testing].

Rinsho byori. The Japanese journal of clinical pathology, 1997
A new colorimetric microdilution antifungal susceptibility testing using an air-dried microplate containing serially diluted antifungal agents and an oxidation-reduction dye, sodium resazurin, as a color indicator to detect the growth of yeasts was evaluated at multiple sites.

Comparison of broth macrodilution, broth microdilution and E‐test susceptibility tests of Cryptococcus neoformans for fluconazole

Mycoses, 1997
Summary. Forty Cryptococcus neoformans strains isolated from cerebral spinal fluid specimens collected from 39 patients were included in the study. The MICs for fluconacole were determined by YNB macrodilution test, microdilution tests using both RPMI1640 and YNB medium and E‐tests on solidified RPMI1640 medium, Casitone and YNB agar.

Antifungal Susceptibility of Yeasts and Filamentous Fungi by CLSI Broth Microdilution Testing

2023
Antifungal susceptibility testing is performed against yeasts and filamentous fungi (molds) for various purposes. In clinical settings, the results of these in vitro assays may be used to help guide therapy for individual patients. Surveillance studies use susceptibility testing to monitor for the development of resistance to different agents.

[Demonstration of methicillin-resistant Staphylococci using the broth microdilution method].

Bollettino dell'Istituto sieroterapico milanese, 1987
The increasing incidence of methicillin resistant staphylococci rendered more important the problem of their detection, by the susceptibility tests, particularly by the broth microdilution methods. The effects of the addition of 2% NaCl to the Cation Supplemented Mueller Hinton Broth (CSMHB) on the MICs of penicillinase resistant penicillins (PRP) and ...
