Antimicrobial susceptibility of Brachyspira hyodysenteriae determined by a broth microdilution method

Veterinary Record, 2014
Swine dysentery (SD) is an economically important disease of pigs worldwide, which results from infection with the anaerobic spirochaete Brachyspira hyodysenteriae (Taylor and Alexander 1971). Clinically the disease is characterised by a mucohaemorrhagic diarrhoea.

Antifungal susceptibility testing of dermatophytes: Development and evaluation of an optimised broth microdilution method

Mycoses, 2020
AbstractBackgroundDermatophytosis is one of the most common infections affecting 3%–17% of the population. Resistance to antifungals so far was not of concern in the therapeutic management. However, recent reports of terbinafine‐resistant strains in several countries are worrisome making antifungal susceptibility testing inevitable.ObjectivesWe aimed ...

Proposal of a Method for Harmonized Broth Microdilution Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing of Avibacterium gallinarum

Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 2022
Avibacterium ( Av. ) gallinarum is an opportunistic pathogen in poultry, which, however, has also been associated with human disease. There is currently no approved method for antimicrobial susceptibility testing of this pathogen, so this study aimed at developing a harmonized ...

Comparison of disk diffusion method and broth microdilution method for antifungal susceptibility testing of dermatophytes

Medical Mycology, 2005
The use of the agar diffusion Neo-Sensitabs method to determine antifungal susceptibility of 59 isolates of dermatophytes, namely Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum canis, M. gypseum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, T. rubrum and T. tonsurans to Clotrimazole (CLZ), Itraconazole (ITZ) and Terbinafine (TBF) is described.

Development of a broth microdilution method for biocide susceptibility testing of bacteria

2021
Development of a broth microdilution method for biocide susceptibility testing of bacteria: Biocides are important for the control of bacterial pathogens in many settings. There are numerous reports of biocide-resistant bacteria, and biocides may also contribute to the development and spread of bacterial pathogens that are cross-resistant to biocides ...

Evaluation of Alamar colorimetric broth microdilution susceptibility testing method for staphylococci and enterococci

Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 1996
We compared the results of the Alamar broth microdilution susceptibility testing method with the results of the National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards reference broth microdilution method for 119 gram-positive organisms. The strains were tested for their susceptibilities to 20 antimicrobial agents.

Evaluation of the Antimicrobial Potency of Tannins and Related Compounds Using the Microdilution Broth Method

Planta Medica, 1999
The antimicrobial activity of a total of 27 tannins and related compounds was evaluated against 8 microorganisms, including 2 Gram-positive (Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus), 4 Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus mirabilis), and 2 yeasts (Candida albicans, Cryptococcus neoformans ...

Susceptibility testing of Malassezia pachydermatis using the urea broth microdilution method

Mycoses, 2002
Summary.  The in vitro susceptibility of 24 isolates of Malassezia pachydermatis to four antifungal drugs in combination with lysozyme was determined using a urea broth microdilution method. The antifungal activities of each drug alone against 24 isolates of M. pachydermatis were determined as the mean minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs).

Susceptibility testing of Cryptococcus neoformans using the urea broth microdilution method

Mycoses, 1998
An urea broth microdilution method to assay the susceptibility of Cryptococcus neoformans to antifungal drugs was newly developed. Using this method, urease activity of the fungus was measured instead of the viability by checking colony development. The urease activities were indicated by colour changes in optical density at 545 nm.

Evaluation of sulbactam-durlobactam disk diffusion and broth microdilution methods for Acinetobacter baumannii

International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents
The broth microdilution method was used as a reference method to evaluate the accuracy of sulbactam-durlobactam disk diffusion method for A. baumannii. In 2023, 504 nonduplicated A. baumannii isolated from 59 hospitals in China were tested by broth microdilution (M07) and disk diffusion method (M02) (10/10 µg) according to the CLSI M100 Ed34 standard ...
