A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Place-Making or Place-Taking? Transformation of Danish Disadvantaged Housing Estates

open access: yesNordic Journal of Urban Studies
Several Danish social housing estates are currently being transformed according to the Parallel Society Act. This legislation has introduced what is, in a Danish context, a new approach to regeneration, involving tenure mix, evictions, and targeted ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Analysing the Environmental and Social Impacts of a Novel User-Based Transit Signal Priority Strategy in a Connected Vehicle Environment

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation
Transit signal priority (TSP) is a traffic control strategy aiming at prioritising public transit vehicles at signalised intersections. The emergence of connected vehicles (CVs) provides the opportunity to enhance TSP operation, mitigating challenges ...

Food Environment, Built Environment, and Women\u27s BMI: Evidence from Erie County, New York [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The authors present the results of a neighborhood-scaled exploratory study that tests the association of the food environment and the built environment with women’s body mass index (BMI) in Erie County, New York.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Geomicrobiology of the built environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Microbial colonization and growth can have significant effects in the built environment, resulting in a range of effects from discolouration and staining to biodeterioration and decay.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

The Social Zipper: Redefining the Role of Streets in Disadvantaged Housing Estates

open access: yesUrban Planning
Danish postwar non‐profit housing estates reflect the rise of the welfare state by providing quality housing for all, regardless of income. Typically built on the outskirts of cities, these estates were shaped by modernist ideals of traffic separation ...

What are the visual communication requirements of a built environment? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This paper explores an aspect of the Built Environment that is part of our everyday lives, yet often goes unnoticed. It is something that is not far away from any vista. It often appears frivolous, and yet can be a matter of life or death.
