Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Crystal structure of 2-methyl-N-[(4-methylpyridin-2-yl)carbamothioyl]benzamide

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2015
In the title compound, C15H15N3OS, there is an intramolecular N—H...O hydrogen bond and an intramolecular C—H...S hydrogen bond involving the C=O and C=S bonds which lie on opposite sides of the molecule.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

5-Amino-1H-1,2,4-triazol-4-ium hydrogen oxalate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2013
In the title salt, C2H5N4+·C2HO4−, the hydrogen oxalate anions form corrugated chains parallel to the c axis, linked by intermolecular O—H...O hydrogen bonds.

A structural systematic study of four isomers of difluoro-N-(3-pyridyl)benzamide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The four isomers 2,4-, (I), 2,5-, (II), 3,4-, (III), and 3,5-difluoro-N-(3-pyridyl)benzamide, (IV), all with formula C12H8F2N2O, display molecular similarity, with interplanar angles between the C6/C5N rings ranging from 2.94 (11)° in (IV) to 4.48 (18 ...

Iron homeostasis disruption and lipid peroxidation in skeletal muscle during short‐term immobilization

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Methyl 2-{[3-(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yl)ureido]sulfonylmethyl}benzoate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2008
In the title compound, C16H18N4O7S, a synthetic sulfonylurea herbicide, there are intramolecular N—H...N and C—H...O hydrogen bonds. Intermolecular N—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen bonds form centrosymmetric dimers. The dihedral angle

Acetylene-ammonia-18-crown-6 (1/2/1) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The title compound, C2H2·C12H24O6·2NH3, was formed by co-crystallization of 18-crown-6 and acetylene in liquid ammonia. The 18-crown-6 molecule has threefold rotoinversion symmetry. The acteylene molecule lies on the threefold axis and the whole molecule
