c-MAF–dependent perivascular macrophages regulate diet-induced metabolic syndrome [PDF]
Embryonically derived tissue-resident perivascular macrophages rely on the transcription factor c-MAF for cell function and identity.

Tumor-suppressive role of the musculoaponeurotic fibrosarcoma gene in colorectal cancer
Summary: Somatic cell reprogramming using the microRNAs miR-200c, miR-302s, and miR-369s leads to increased expression of cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors in human colorectal cancer (CRC) cells and suppressed tumor growth. Here, we investigated whether

Role of c-Maf in Chondrocyte Differentiation [PDF]
Chondrocyte differentiation in the growth plate is an important process for the longitudinal growth of endochondral bones. Sox9 and Runx2 are the most often-studied transcriptional regulators of the chondrocyte differentiation process, but the importance of additional factors is also becoming apparent.

SUMOylation attenuates c‐Maf‐dependent IL‐4 expression [PDF]
AbstractThe function of transcription factors can be critically regulated by SUMOylation. c‐Maf, the cellular counterpart of v‐maf oncogene, is a potent transactivator of the IL‐4 gene in Th2 cells. We found in a yeast two‐hybrid screen that c‐Maf can interact with Ubc9 and PIAS1, two key enzymes of the SUMOylation pathway.

The chemotherapeutic agent DMXAA as a unique IRF3-dependent type-2 vaccine adjuvant [PDF]
5,6-Dimethylxanthenone-4-acetic acid (DMXAA), a potent type I interferon (IFN) inducer, was evaluated as a chemotherapeutic agent in mouse cancer models and proved to be well tolerated in human cancer clinical trials.

c-Maf Regulates IL-10 Expression during Th17 Polarization [PDF]
Abstract IL-10 production by Th17 cells is critical for limiting autoimmunity and inflammatory responses. Gene array analysis on Stat6 and T-bet double-deficient Th17 cells identified the Th2 transcription factor c-Maf to be synergistically up-regulated by IL-6 plus TGFβ and associated with Th17 IL-10 production.

Roles of TGFβ and FGF signals during growth and differentiation of mouse lens epithelial cell in vitro. [PDF]
Transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) and fibroblast growth factor (FGF) signaling pathways play important roles in the proliferation and differentiation of lens epithelial cells (LECs) during development.

The transcription factor c-Maf in sensory neuron development [PDF]
The proto-oncogene c-Maf has been shown to be an important transcriptional regulator in the differentiation of a number of cellular contexts, like the eye and hematopoietic system. Here we discuss the recent progress made in understanding c-Maf function in the nervous system.

The ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme UBE2O modulates c-Maf stability and induces myeloma cell apoptosis
Background UBE2O is proposed as a ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme, but its function was largely unknown. Methods Mass spectrometry was applied to identify c-Maf ubiquitination-associated proteins.
