Clinical implications of c-maf expression in plasma cells from patients with multiple myeloma

open access: yesExperimental Hematology & Oncology, 2017
Background Multiple myeloma (MM) is a type of hematological malignancy with significant heterogeneity in clinical features and prognosis. Cytogenetic abnormalities are the major factors affecting patient outcomes.

Maf and Mafb control mouse pallial interneuron fate and maturation through neuropsychiatric disease gene regulation

open access: yeseLife, 2020
Maf (c-Maf) and Mafb transcription factors (TFs) have compensatory roles in repressing somatostatin (SST+) interneuron (IN) production in medial ganglionic eminence (MGE) secondary progenitors in mice.

MafB is a critical regulator of complement component C1q [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The transcription factor MafB is expressed by monocytes and macrophages. Efferocytosis (apoptotic cell uptake) by macrophages is important for inhibiting the development of autoimmune diseases, and is greatly reduced in Mafb-deficient macrophages.

Ni-doped metal-azolate framework-6 derived carbon as a highly active catalyst for CO2 conversion through the CO2 hydrogenation reaction

open access: yesCarbon Capture Science & Technology, 2023
A profound and accelerated solution towards mitigating atmospheric CO2 levels and converting the CO2 to useful fuels and chemicals, such as CO or CH4, would be to utilize and promote the catalytic CO2 hydrogenation reaction.

WaveCNV: allele-specific copy number alterations in primary tumors and xenograft models from next-generation sequencing. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
MotivationCopy number variations (CNVs) are a major source of genomic variability and are especially significant in cancer. Until recently microarray technologies have been used to characterize CNVs in genomes.

Autism and mild epilepsy associated with a de novo missense pathogenic variant in the GTPase effector domain of DNM1

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part C: Seminars in Medical Genetics, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Dynamin 1 is a GTPase protein involved in synaptic vesicle fission, which facilitates the exocytosis of neurotransmitters necessary for normal signaling. Pathogenic variants in the DNM1 gene are associated with intractable epilepsy, often manifested as infantile spasms at onset, developmental delay, and a movement disorder, and are located in ...

Genetics in TNF-TNFR pathway: A complex network causing spondyloarthritis and conditioning response to anti-TNFα therapy. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
We investigated whether polymorphisms (SNPs) in the promoter region of TNFA, or in the autoinflammatory TNFRSF1A and MEFV genes, concur with HLA-B27 in enhancing the risk of Spondyloarthritis (SpA) and/or in predicting the response to anti-TNFα treatment.

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...
