Calcific myonecrosis

open access: yesJournal of the Belgian Society of Radiology, 2010
A 58-year-old man presented with a slowly growing painless mass at the anterolateral aspect of his left lower leg. His past history included a severe neuro - vascular damage of the left lower leg, due to an accidental dynamite explosion 34 years previously. During surgery following the accident, he developed compartmental ischemia of the left lower leg.

Persistent Leukoencephalopathy Following H1N1 Infection Associated With a Novel MYRF Variant (p.Gly735Asp)

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mutations in myelin regulatory factor (MYRF) are linked to demyelinating disorders. We report a 38‐year‐old male who developed acute symmetric leukoencephalopathy mimicking a stroke following an influenza A virus infection. While clinical symptoms markedly improved with corticosteroids, MRI revealed persistent white matter lesions, contrasting

Unveiling the Hidden Burden: A Systematic Review on the Prevalence and Clinical Implications of Calcified Brain Metastases

open access: yesBiomolecules
Background: Brain calcifications, found in various conditions, may be incidental or crucial for diagnosis. They occur in physiological changes, infections, genetic diseases, neurodegenerative conditions, vascular syndromes, metabolic disorders, endocrine

Multi‐Omics Integration for Advancing Glioma Precision Medicine

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gliomas are among the most malignant and aggressive tumors of the central nervous system, characterized by the absence of early diagnostic markers, poor prognosis, and a lack of effective treatments. Advances in high‐throughput technologies have facilitated a refined molecular classification of gliomas, incorporating genetic features. However,

Interplay between light and circadian rhythms in the regulation of photoreception and physiological processes in the stony coral Acropora digitifera

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Stony corals possess major components of the circadian system, which oscillate in response to light-dark cycles in aquatic environments. However, the extent to which the circadian system influences physiological processes remains unknown.

Decrease in coccolithophore calcification and CO2 since the middle Miocene

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Marine algae are instrumental in carbon cycling and atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) regulation. One group, coccolithophores, uses carbon to photosynthesize and to calcify, covering their cells with chalk platelets (coccoliths).

Age‐Related Characteristics of SYT1‐Associated Neurodevelopmental Disorder

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives We describe the clinical manifestations and developmental abilities of individuals with SYT1‐associated neurodevelopmental disorder (Baker‐Gordon syndrome) from infancy to adulthood. We further describe the neuroradiological and electrophysiological characteristics of the condition at different ages, and explore the associations ...

Extracellular Vesicles As Mediators of Cardiovascular Calcification

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2017
Involvement of cell-derived extracellular particles, coined as matrix vesicles (MVs), in biological bone formation was introduced by Bonucci and Anderson in mid-1960s. In 1983, Anderson et al.
